IFDC 2018 - four new Poppy Parker dolls unveiled!

The IFDC convention took place from 27 till 30 of June 2018 in Las Vegas. This year, as usual, Integrity Toys made the convention and companion doll’s as well as the centerpiece plus one more IT Direct doll- and they were all Poppy Parker dolls! They were unveiled late Saturday night by the company team, another small collection created by the talented David Buttry. Every attendee also received a table gift from Integrity Toys, an exclusive Poppy scaled guitar designed just for the event. The four dolls make a very coherent group, all hippie themed, appropriately enough for the psychedelic theme of the convention. I like the variety of skintones and styles, even though a Darla with a big afro would have looked better than another black Poppy. They have different feet between them, the first has the high heeled foot, while the rest of them have the articulated foot to better match their shoe style. Always remember that lower legs are interchangeable and can pop out to be replaced with another type, if you desire. Regarding the new hand sculpts introduced for this collection: meh. They have no use than maybe one or two poses and that’s it. Plus they do not look as realistic as her normal hands, but more cartoony and almost weirdly squished. What do you think?

Since the number of dolls made is larger than the attendees, the remainder is to be available through lottery to W Club members only. So if you are not a member, you will have to try the secondary market for them. The lottery will be held approximately in ten days and members have until the 25th of July to pay the dolls. Let’s see the dolls that were presented.

I like this one, although, as mentioned earlier, a Darla with a huge afro would have looked better for me. Doll and outfit are great and would make a nice addition to the collection. Love the hat, it is very Jacquemus and will match other summer styles well. I’m still undecided about which doll I will enter the lottery for, but this one is ahead at the moment.

If her hair colour was darker, she’d be a dead ringer for Lana Del Rey, flowers on the head etc.  She’s beautiful and has the Hungarian skintone that makes her different from blond Poppies with pale make up I have. Her earrings and bag are gorgeous. I’m not crazy about the dress though and the braids in her hair mean less versatility.

IMG_5893.JPG

As I mentioned earlier, all IFDC attendees received an exclusive bonus souvenir gift, a 60's themed guitar designed to fit with this quartet of dolls. This accessory is not available online, but  there's a picture of the centerpiece doll with the guitar in-hand.

Dollton Abbey: IFDC convention dolls by Integrity Toys take a creative spin on the theme

The IFDC convention was held in Las Vegas, celebrating its tenth anniversary at the Orleans hotel. The theme this year was Dollton Abbey, a celebration of the British tv series Downton Abbey that was very popular on both sides of the Atlantic. I was really curious to see what Integrity Toys would do with their convention dolls, from the moment the incredible Jim Pharaone, heart and souls of IFDC announced they would be dong them again this year. I must say I was kind of expecting Poppy Parker to be used as the basis of the dolls, as she usually is for bygone era clothing. Or maybe the new sculpts from the East 59th street line. On Saturday night. members of the Integrity Toys team presented the trio of dolls as part of the NU. Fantasy™ Collection, created by Vaughn Sawyers, based on this year's IFDC convention theme. It was not a literal interpretation of the era, but a modern take on it. Which is a shame, as I would really love to have some outfits from the first decades of the 20th century (the series begun at 1912 and ended right before the big recession of 1929) on Integrity dolls. Just imagine if each doll had an outfit of a different decade on her. And it was an era with major shifts in fashion and style for women, freeing them from corsets and conservative looks to define the essence of modern woman. Remember that Coco Chanel started back then.

Remember that these dolls were available only at the convention and a very small number was reserved for W Club members, where a lottery will take place for the right to buy them. Members have until the 17th of July to participate. Let's see how the dolls look like and how close they came to giving us a taste of Downton Abbey.

Feeling Wild is a 12.5-inch fully articulated doll that features fully rooted hair. She comes dressed in an intricately constructed, off-shouldered chiffon evening gown which features delicate embroidery at the bust. A veil, jewelry and shoes complete her look. A doll stand and a certificate of authenticity are also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only.

IMG_0738.PNG

Very beautiful version of Giselle, with a Fashion Royalty body. From real life convention photos, one can see that the hair is fuller and not as stiff as the prototype photos show. I like the dress but it does not give off any Downton vibes for me. It looks more like modern couture, something that Taylor Swift would wear to the Met Gala. I love the jewellery but for the $150 price tag, she should have had a nice evening bag to compliment the outfit. And a chocker necklace too.

Never Predictable is a 12.5-inch fully articulated doll with fully rooted hair and comes dressed in an embroidered gown, designed to mimic the fineries of a time gone by. She wears long opera length gloves, shoes and jewelry. A doll stand and a certificate of authenticity are also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only.

IMG_0742.PNG

Now that's more like it. The silhouette, colours and embroidery draw heavily on the first decades of the 20th century while being brought up,to date by the hairstyle, textures and sheerness of the fabric. The sculpt is not to my liking but makes for a very interesting doll. The dress is stunning and so are the gorgeous shoes. Again, a bag should have been included in this price.

Touch of Whimsy is a 12.5-inch fully articulated doll features fully rooted hair and comes dressed in a unique and thoughtfully decorated hand-painted overcoat, created just for the occasion. Her original look is completed by long thigh-high boots, a hat and jewelry. A doll stand and a certificate of authenticity are also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only.

IMG_0745.PNG

Again a modern take on very early 20th century fashions, with a touch of late Victorian influences. The result could have been better, while still being quite impressive. She could have been starring in Ripper Street (another great British tv series taking place in the late 1800s) as a hooker in Whitechapel. I'd prefer the sleeves and front part of the overcoat in navy blue like her panties, instead of white, and a navy blue ribbon on the white hat. There are four different fabrics on her. Overkill. Adding a pair of lace fingerless gloves and a drawstring pouch would have made her perfect. The light pink lipstick does not flatter this face sculpt. In real life photos the hair looks fluffier and looser, which is not good for this hairstyle. I looooove the boots. Love them. Even though they look like they will be a pain in the ass to put on the doll, no matter the zipper at the lower part. The price is a bit higher for this one, $175. Is it for the boots? I can't find anything that justifies it. She has only a pair of earrings, the boots, a hat and the outfit, which is not very intricate. Is the fabric expensive? Inquiring minds want to know.

Integrity Toys Gloss Convention 2014: part I

The annual Integrity Toys convention started last Thursday in Orlando, Florida (Wednesday, if you were an early regisration attendee). This year it is titled Gloss: the dolls that one can see from photos of the attendees in social media and Flickr are in theme and are already making the rounds. So let's see the first official photos of some dolls.

Item # 15057 + 15058
Official Welcome Bag Doll and Companion Accessory Kit
The 2014 Integrity Toys Convention: Gloss
Limited Edition of 500 Dolls and 500 Accessory Packs

As has happened in previous conventions, this year's registration kit was composed of many goodies, which included a special pair of shoes from Azone, a reusable Integrity Toys water bottle and of course a doll. This one is the old Erin sculpt as an ITBE doll, using the old NuFace body. The set also got an extra accessory pack during the Thursday evening welcome dinner. Very 70s style, as are most of the convention dolls so far. The film American Hustle seems to be a strong influence.

Item # 91360
Sheer Sensuality
Vanessa Perrin™ Dressed Doll
The 2014 Integrity Toys Convention: Gloss Official Table Centerpiece
Limited Edition of 350 Dolls

This is the centerpiece doll from the welcome dinner on Thursday night. She has the original sculpt of Vanessa and a very early 70s dress. One of the best dolls from what I have seen on line so far.

Item # 91361
Le Smoking
Adèle Makéda® Dressed Doll
The 2014 Integrity Toys Convention: Gloss Official Souvenir
Limited Edition of 500 Dolls

This is the gift doll that each attendee of the dinner gets. Using the Adele 2.0 sculpt and wearing a great smoking suit and boa, with gold shoes. Very 70s Bianca Jagger look. The best doll of the convention so far and the only one I'd love to own. She has not been given to attendees yet as many dolls have not arrived at Orlando due to being held by customs.

IFDC Integrity Toys Convention dolls - Poppy Parker 5th Anniversary collection

As many had already surmised, the W Club Poppy Parker 5th Anniversary doll was only the first in this year's celebratory collection. For the 2014 IFDC souvenir dolls Integrity Toys made three individually distinctive dolls, retro and glam in style (to match the convention theme), but with a modern edge. These Poppy dolls début a new eye screening and for the first time, they have high-heeled feet, answering a demand made by many collectors frustrated with the ankle joint of the original Poppy body. The bust, torso and arms are the same as the regular Poppy Parker body. The feet on this body are compatible with DG shoes. Not all future Poppy Parker dolls will have this hybrid body; this is only for the 5th anniversary dolls. From what I learned, they were sold out in the convention. W Club also secured a few for their members through a lottery for right to buy.

Item # PP072
IT Girl Poppy Parker 5th Anniversary Collection
2014 IFDC Convention Companion Doll
Limited Edition of 300 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: $150.00 USD

Doll Tech Specs:
Body Type: Poppy Parker Hybrid (w/ High-heeled Foot)
Head Sculpt: Poppy Parker
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair Color: Redhead
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied

Poppy is wearing a light aqua ensemble, accessorized with light silver and aqua earrings, cuff bracelet and ring. A satin clutch, aqua metal sunglasses, and matching closed toe leather platform pumps finish off this look. Poppy's vibrant red hair is in a pompadour with curled ponytail. 12-inch articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair. Doll stand included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

I think this one is the best of the three - great make up and hair style, interesting outfit and beautiful accessories. The glasses are just like the Royaltini FR ones. Her hair style is a duplicate of Eugenia A Touch Of  Frost 2013 W Club doll.

Item # PP073
Evening Ingenue
Poppy Parker 5th Anniversary Collection
2014 IFDC IT DIRECT Exclusive
Limited Edition of 300 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: $150.00 USD

Doll Tech Specs:
Body Type: Poppy Parker Hybrid (w/ High-heeled Foot)
Head Sculpt: Poppy Parker
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair Color: Blond
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied

Poppy Parker is wearing a floor length strapless coral and black dress, accessorized with black chrome earrings, necklace and bracelet. A black satin clutch, black patent leather belt and platform sandals complete her ensemble. Her blonde hair is in a half up and half down style. 12-inch articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair. Doll stand included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

The dress on this one is a dead ringer for the FR2 versions of Vanessa and Veronique (in their original sculpts) a few years ago. From the convention photos of the real doll I saw, the pleats are a bit more shaped and rigid. I do not like her make up at all.

Item # PP074
Glamorous Darling
Poppy Parker 5th Anniversary Collection
2014 IFDC Convention Exclusive Doll
Limited Edition of 300 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: $175.00 USD

Doll Tech Specs:
Body Type: Poppy Parker Hybrid (w/ High-heeled Foot)
Head Sculpt: Poppy Parker
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair Color: Brunette
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied

Poppy is in a gorgeous lilac gown accessorized with lilac and silver earrings, bracelet and ring. A purple satin clutch and lilac patent leather platform pumps complete the ensemble. Her dark brunette and black hair is in a side swept style. 12-inch articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair. Doll stand included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

I love the hairstyle on this one. Beautiful doll but a bit Barbie looking. The bracelet  is the same as Bittersweet Eugenia's from the 2013 IT convention. The clutch seems dark in the first photo but much brighter in the last one (which probably shows the correct shade).
