Integrity Toys Summer 2019 reveal: Fashion Royalty Boudoir Wave 2

The third surprise of this summer’s Integrity Toys reveal was the capsule collection for Fashion Royalty: Boudoir Wave 2 is a continuation of the lingerie dolls from last year, with the difference that they are only available through lottery, making it a bit harder to get for collectors. Again, Jessy Ayala is the designer with Kesenia, Natalia and Jordan his models. For this shoot, Integrity picked Ahmet Steltman to photograph the dolls, and the difference it makes clearly shows. Again, in an accompanying video presentation, Carol Roth addressed the production issues with China and how they are the reason for delayed schedules and less dolls produced this year. Roth mentions Nu Face is coming later in the year and that there is more to come, but nothing specific. Hmm.

Coming approximately this December, these wonderful ladies will be sold via IT Direct through the W Club's right-to-buy lottery system. All 2019 W Club members will be allowed to enter once per membership for a chance to purchase either or all three of these dolls. Full lottery details will be sent via email approximately in December, closer to their arrival at the IT warehouse.

Kesenia has been absent from the FR line-up for quite a long time, and now she makes a welcomed come-back. Sultry and sexy in her leopard-print lingerie, she stays true to her previous incarnations, while looking more dazzling than ever before. What’s not to love from doll and accessories here? The lipstick changes colours! Her lingerie is like the ones featured in the Faces of Adele gift-set. I’d love to get her but I have to pick only one of the three. The last photo with the shoes and the glove gives me Alaia vibes.

A gorgeous version of Natalia, even though it feels awkward to have a Latina in Japan skin-tone. I have an older version of her in Japan skin tone, Belissima, but that one had strong colouring. This one is as soft as a feather, looking sensational. Her screening is the Shapeshifter one. Her shoes combine satin and sparkly leather. Love the ruffled robe.

Jordan has always been a favourite of mine, and after her previous underwhelming appearance in the Femme collection, this one shines like a diamond. Fierce and feisty, she looks amazing with the leather lingerie - lots of S/M vibes here - and net thigh high boots (yes, it’s not simple stockings). Gorgeous chocker (the spider is too obviously goth, a simple blood coloured stone would have been enough) and vinyl gloves. And those burgundy nails! She looks a bit like Vamp Agnes here. This is the one I’m entering the lottery for, fingers crossed.

Integrity Toys 2nd On-line Presentation 2013: Fashion Royalty Classic and the event doll

The last of the three lines presented this time was Fashion Royalty Classic. Vaughn Sawyers said that this was a capsule collection (which for me screams that more FR are coming later in the year) harking back to the roots of Fashion Royalty. Jason Wu wanted a slightly retro vibe for the line, to make it look like the very early Veronique and Adele dolls, while still keeping it slightly modern. Even the doll screenings are referencing looks of early dolls. For me this was a strong and coherent collection, with great dolls which, while not looking remotely alike, manage to give a definite unified vibe. And yes, the retro element is evident, as are the references to older dolls. The price of the dolls is now $20 US higher than last year's collection, with seemingly nothing to justify it. Later on at the Q&A section, we found out that the tan discolouration issues (green hands on tan dolls) was addressed and solved (I submitted the question about this issue), so new dolls should be fine. Also Nadja was confirmed as making an appearance and also Misaki fans were glad to find out that that line will also be making a comeback this year.

Item #91314
Nostalgia
Dania Zarr™ Dressed Doll
The Fashion Royalty® Collection
Suggested Retail Price: $130.00 US
Limited Edition Size: 600
Estimated Ship Date: Late June / Early July 2013

Dania Zarr is a 12-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion doll with blond fully rooted hair that is done up in a luscious classic FR ponytail and she has hand applied eyelashes. Dania is dressed in a black pinstripe dress, accented by a hand-beaded collar and cinched at the waist by a narrow patent leather belt. To complete the look, there is a luxurious faux mink shawl, a bright red contrasting hand-bag and black heels. Doll stand is also included.

Probably the best doll of the bunch (excluding the event doll, you will see why), this version of Dania shows once more the versatility of her sculpt. The different screenings her face gets always make people wonder if her sculpt is changed. It happened last year and it happened again this time. Still the same sculpt but oh so different.

Vaughn said her make up and hair were a direct reference to the very first basic Veronique doll. I love it and I think the outfit is elegant and chic too. She could be starring in Mad Men! The embroidered collar is a great detail. Her accessories are lovely too. The bag is TDF. She has the Japan skin tone.

Item #91315
Splendid
Jordan™ Dressed Doll
The Fashion Royalty® Collection
Suggested Retail Price: $130.00 US
Limited Edition Size: 400
Estimated Ship Date: Late June / Early July 2013

Jordan is a 12-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion doll with thick dark berry rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes. She comes in a cocktail dress wrapped in a long faux fur stole. The look is complete with an olive colored bag, matching pumps, opera length faux leather gloves and a gold jewellery set. Doll stand included.

I will probably regrett not getting this one but the price hike made me more conservative in buing this time. She is a gorgeous doll, with the same skintone she came in last year (called A-tone). Colour-wise, she reminds me of Style Renaissance Adele but in earth tones instead of smoky ones. The dress is amazing.

I love the bag and shoes (paint something a shade of green and I'm sold) but the rose necklace is tacky. The brooch and earrings are lovely. Her gloves are described as opera length but they look shorter to me. Opera length means above the elbow. She has the smallest edition of all the dolls in the collection and will definitely sell out.

Item #91316
Captivating
Anja™ Dressed Doll
The Fashion Royalty® Collection
Suggested Retail Price: $130.00 US
Limited Edition Size: 800
Estimated Ship Date: Late June / Early July 2013

Anja is a 12-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion doll with brunette hair and hand-applied eyelashes. She is wearing an ice-blue gown with over sized bow detail at the waist. The look is finished with an intricate crystal neck piece and earring set, long black lace gloves, a black satin pocket purse and patent leather pumps. Doll stand also included.

This version of Anja brings to mind Eugenia Spectacular Spectacular, although Vaughn said that she is a nod to Paradise Veronique. The gown is too plain for me - all that volume without anything special but the exquisite shade of blue.

I love her hair and make up. Her necklace looks gorgeous and so do the gloves. She has the Caucasian skin tone and the largest edition of all the dolls in this collection.

Item #91317
Ambitious
Kesenia™ Dressed Doll
The Fashion Royalty® Collection
Suggested Retail Price: $130.00 US
Limited Edition Size: 700
Estimated Ship Date: Late June / Early July 2013

Kesenia is a 12-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion doll with stylized fully rooted jet black hair and hand-applied eyelashes. She wears a red cocktail dress cinched at the waist by a narrow matching belt and topped by a contrasting black wool fitted coat with a bow detail at the waist. A tan handbag, coordinated pumps, gold earrings and a single gold bracelet complete the look. A doll stand is also included.

Great new version of Kesenia in jet black hair (first time on her) and again the Japan skin tone. She looks great here but not that much that I would want to add her to my collection. Her outfit is interesting but nothing more.

Her make up is too orange-y for my taste. Great hair - but I think it is time that Kesenia gets a new length, she has been done in long hair for ever. I'd love to see her (and other dolls) in sharp, geometric bobs. Her accessories are nice. Great shoes.

Item #91318
Polished
Korinne™ Dressed Doll
The Fashion Royalty® Collection
Suggested Retail Price: $130.00 US
Limited Edition Size: 700
Estimated Ship Date: Late June / Early July 2013

Korinne is a 12-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion doll with rooted light brunette hair coiffed in a sleek low ponytail and hand-applied eyelashes. She is wearing an intricately detailed pink top and delicately embroidered ton-sur-ton black skirt. Accessories for this look include a delicate flowered cloisonné necklace with matching earrings and a patent leather handbag with matching pumps. Doll stand also included.

This is the first Corinne I really like as a doll. But the fashion has been done in different version in past dolls and I already have two full black skirts - one embroidered from Agnes Dressing The Part and one from Agnes Festive Decadence. So it's a pass.

Her make up and hair colour look great and complement her fashion. I love the necklace with the various shades of pink. And those eyes! The bag is TDF.

After the presentation of the three lines, it was time for the event doll unveiling. We all knew, from the previous event, that this one would not be a lottery but available for every one to order. It was a big surprise to see a second Dania appearing, but her look makes her so different from the other one, it is like a completely different doll.

Item #91319
Irresistible
Dania Zarr™ Dressed Doll
The Fashion Royalty® Collection
2013 W Club Online Event Doll
Suggested Retail Price: $130.00 US
Limited Edition Size: TBA
Estimated Ship Date: Mid to Late Summer 2013

Dania Zarr is a 12-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion doll with long, gloss blond fully rooted tresses and hand-applied eyelashes.  She wears a black faux leather top with an over sized shawl collar, her looks is complete with a rose necklace, gold and stone earrings, tan spectator pumps, fishnet stockings and a matching handbag. Doll stand also included.

This is the best doll in the whole event. I love almost everything about her. Colouring, late eighties-style fashion, accessories. She is like a combination of Diamond Society and Going Public Eugenias.

She has a beautiful make up, with smoky eyes and pale mauve lips, platinum hair and tan skin tone. Vaughn said that he wanted to do something with a portrait collar and combined it with leather which came from the current Jason Wu real fashion collection. The only miss is the rose necklace, which again I think is tacky. The earrings though are great. Necklace, bag and pumps are just like Jordan's, only in different colour. And actually they look like the Daphne bag and Dovima shoes shown when entering the official Jason Wu website, minus the point d'esprit lace overlay. She's a keeper. The edition depends on how many club members order her.

So that was the second Integrity Toys on-line presentation for 2013. Three strong, solid collections, each with their own style and fans, with a variety and quality that has something for everyone. Can't wait for the next one!

Trust Your Instincts Jordan

This is one of the most beautiful dolls of this year's Spring collection by Integrity Toys (a tour de force of collections indeed). It's my second Jordan (you can see the previous one here) and having seen her in real life, a firm favourite now.

She comes dressed in a two-piece ensemble: a short sleeved chartreuse top that buttons up her back, with peplum and a slim matching belt, over a sugar white pencil skirt. It is a 40s look re-done for out era and her hairdo channels exactly that.

The outfit is completed with brilliant accessories: a coral "crocodile" leather bag with beige strap and a pair of bi-colored strap pumps.

Her jewellery is beautiful too: a pair of multi-colored enamel earrings with a matching cuff bracelet. I wish she had a green ring to complete this, it would be perfect.

Her make up is not as bold as I feared - in real life it looks even more subtle. The nails are painted pink. The skin tone is lighter than previous Jordan versions. Her hairdo is perfect, fits the outfit,, giving it a 40s vibe and compliments her face beautifully. Her profile is almost Nefertiti like.

This has become one of my all-time favourite Fashion Royalty dolls and would very much like to try more outfits on her. She has set the bar very high for Adele, who will be coming home probably by the end of this year.

Integrity Toys 2012 release: FR - The Style Directive Collection

After the Perry Marino reveal, complete with the mention of his romantic link with Eugenia (oh those story lines!) Vaughan then proceeded to present the new Fashion Royalty®: The Style Directive Collection. As the storyline has again started to advance, the story-cards for these latest dolls are going to be sent to W Club members with a notice closer to when these dolls are being shipped. This was one of the collector requests that IT fulfilled, making a lot of people happy. So let's see the dolls - Vaughan said the collection is inspired by the 40s-50s styles, albeit with a more modern look and feel.

Item #91296 Always On Her Mind Dania Zarr™ Dressed Doll Suggested Retail Price: $110.00 US Limited Edition Size: 450 Dolls Worldwide Estimated Delivery date: Early July 2012

Dania Zarr looks a bit like Marilyn Monore in her retro, high-contrast black and pink outfit. The peplum is the basic element (here attached to the skirt), one of this springs staples at the fashion runways all over the world. She looks great, has a very soft face, lovely hairstyle (Lana Del Ray comes to mind). Her yellow bag is amazing and her jewellery original and stylish. Lucite heels for the shoes.

Item #91297 Trust Your Instincts Jordan™ Dressed Doll Suggested Retail Price: $110.00 US Limited Edition Size: 300 Dolls Worldwide Estimated Delivery date: Early July 2012

Jordan is one of my favourite dolls and her third incarnation does not disappoint: dressed in an ivory skirt topped by an ultra feminine short-sleeved light chartreuse satin blouse and accessorized with gold and cloisonné jewels. Her looks is mirroring Dania's style (peplum - attached to the top this time,  separates, same design in jewellery) and Vaughan said the clothes are interchangeable - a thing they tried to achieve with the whole collection, much like last year. Her strong make up might alienate some, but I love her and hope to get her. Look at that incredible bag! She has a lighter skin tone than her previous releases.

Item #91298 Your Kind Of Model Kesenia™ Dressed Doll Suggested Retail Price: $110.00 US Limited Edition Size: 400 Dolls Worldwide Estimated Delivery date: Early July 2012

Kesenia is one of the most talked about dolls - many people dislike her open mouth, others feel she is a Vanessa usurper, after Van got hers closed. Some could never warm up to her vampire pale complexion. But look how thing change! In this edition of the character, Kesenia has the Japan skin tone, has much softer make up and hair, transforming into a dead ringer for Poesie Sans Couler Vanessa. She wears a translucent embroidered chiffon cocktail dress over a pink strapless sheath dress, a very modern shaved faux-mink fur jacket and perfect finishing touches to complete her look. The embroidered clutch is amazing, her shoes are black leather sling-backs and the rhinestone jewellery looks great on her.

Item #91299 World On A String Eugenia Perrin Frost™ Dressed Doll Suggested Retail Price: $110.00 US Limited Edition Size: 500 Dolls Worldwide Estimated Delivery date: Mid August 2012

Oh Eugenia! Look at her! Sophia Loren? Lauren Bacall? Susan Hayward? All of that together? A very 40s look for this beloved character, who in the current story line is causing a scandal, pairing up with Perry Marino, Natalia Fatalé's ex! Eugenia's fashion includes a knee length skirt with a way-up-there slit, an ultra-feminine chartreuse dobby weave blouse, a tweed and fur jacket cinched at the waist by a shiny patent leather belt, with removable fur-collar and matching large brimmed hat. Her shoes have transparent sides, a look that Christian Louboutin has already made popular for Spring. She has a gorgeous bag, chartreuse earrings and ring(a gift from Perry?) and a nice silver bracelet.

Item #91300 Main Attitude Adèle Makéda® Dressed Doll Suggested Retail Price: $110.00 US Limited Edition Size: 400 Dolls Worldwide Estimated Delivery date: Mid August 2012

Adèle Makéda's sculpt changed last year, she is now in her third incarnation! The convention doll was not to my liking; she looked way too soft and subdued to match the fierce and feisty character I loved and collected for so long. But now they got her right! She is smashing in this release, reminding me the style of Natalia Femme Du Monde from the Pompadour collection. Her sophisticated two-piece ivory ensemble is completed by a dramatic short "fur" wrap. The skirt has a lovely flourish at the hem and the top is very sexy. The whole outfit looks like a "cleaner" version of a McQueen ensemble from their S/S 2012 collection. Her bag looks very much like a new Louis Vuitton style! We've seen the jewellery before but she must have one fault! Will try to get her!

Item #91301 The Sweet Smell Of Success Véronique Perrin® Dressed Doll Suggested Retail Price: $110.00 US Limited Edition Size: 500 Dolls Worldwide Estimated Delivery date: Early August 2012

Véronique Perrin keeps showing up with a face in varying shades of pink since she returned, with almost alarming consistency. It looks good on her, so why change it?  Here she reminds me of Festive Decadence Agnes, but much softer. Her black and pink dress with the soft lace accents looks cute. The rose-flower jewellery is again a re-hash but I guess this helps keep prices down. We did not get a photo of her accessories - the bag looks amazing. If I did not have Agnes already (and two new Veros from last year) I would try to get her.

Item #91303 ...And Another Thing! Kyori Sato™ Gift Set Suggested Retail Price: $150.00 US Limited Edition Size: 400 Gift Sets Worldwide Estimated Delivery date: Early August 2012

Kyori Sato has has sculpt changed - and I think it is for the best. The collectors think so too, she is sold out already! It is the most successful sculpt change I have seen Integrity do, as the doll is still Kyori but looks more defined and fresh. If only all sculpt changes were this good. She comes as a gift set that features multiple looks: they include a belted mermaid evening gown with plunging neckline and a draped and sewn up skirt (which looks way too busy for me), an two-piece suit with removable fur collar (that draped skirt is awuful) and a sexy lingerie set.Her accessories include a magnificent weave leather bag (Bottega Veneta comes to mind), gladiator shoes (these must be finally put to rest), big chunky pink single gemstone earrings and a matching ring. Her two-tone hair colour and hair style is also not a win for me. So, while I love the sculpt, I will wait for a future release.

So generally we saw a very strong collection, coherent, stylish but a bit conservative (which probably is what people want anyway). From the mention of Art Deco and the 40's, I was expecting a more defined and pronounced shoulder line, much like the fashion runways in real life have shown. But still this looks good, the bags and accessories are back and the prices are kept relatively low, which is even better! The only thing missed was Vanessa. Where is that girl?

Most unforgettable fashion dolls

When I started buying fashion magazines back in the late 80's, there was one particular line of print ads that stood out from the rest: Revlon's Unforgettable series. Starting in 1987, featuring photography by Richard Avedon and some of the world's most beautiful models, they set a very high standard for make up advertising that is difficult to achieve even to this very day.

One such example is the photo above, from 1987 - my favourite model Christy Turlington (so young!) featured alongside Kersti Bowser, a very young Cindy Crawford and Paulina Poriskova, then on her heyday. I was toying around with the idea of re-creating the style of these photos with my fashion dolls for quite a long time, so finally I decided to just try and see how it goes.

And here they are! I was inspired by W Cosmetics as well, the fictional company owned by the Perrin family in the Fashion Royalty world - so of course their girls had to pose for the photo. From left we have Vanessa Perrin, model, Veronique Perrin, CEO of W Cosmetics, Jordan, model and Eugenia Perrin Frost, cousin of Vero and Vanessa and working for the company as well. Their clothing is all Integrity Fashion Royalty as well as their jewellery. I hope you like them - I intend to do some more group shots like this.
