Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Gene Marshall in the JAMIEShow Chicago 2015 convention

Gene Marshall is the fashion doll that did for 16" dolls what Barbie did for the 1/6 scale ones: established the fashion doll rules for the particular scale and made every doll thereafter compare to it. Since JamieShow took over the line and collaborated with the creator Mel Odom, the doll reached new heights of quality and sophistication. For its 20 year anniversary (and the 5th of JamieShow dolls) the dolls did not disappoint - and we got some added bonus as well.

The convention doll was none other than Gene Marshall in a Lady Grey resin version. The concept had first been done by Mel when the doll was produced by Integrity Toys for their 2007 Gene Marshall convention design contest and now she's in resin, even more glamorous and sophisticated, with her tiara and evening gown, inspired by a Charles James original. I like the concept better with this hair colour than the ashen blond used in the previous version.

And here is a very happy Mel Odom at the convention with the doll in his hands:

Of course there were more dolls in the Gene Marshall line:

As you can see, there was Oona, Madra, Violet and a new, grey-haired Trent in limited editions of 20 dolls per sculpt, each priced at $475. Check them out below in larger photos.

IFDC Integrity Toys Convention dolls - Poppy Parker 5th Anniversary collection

As many had already surmised, the W Club Poppy Parker 5th Anniversary doll was only the first in this year's celebratory collection. For the 2014 IFDC souvenir dolls Integrity Toys made three individually distinctive dolls, retro and glam in style (to match the convention theme), but with a modern edge. These Poppy dolls début a new eye screening and for the first time, they have high-heeled feet, answering a demand made by many collectors frustrated with the ankle joint of the original Poppy body. The bust, torso and arms are the same as the regular Poppy Parker body. The feet on this body are compatible with DG shoes. Not all future Poppy Parker dolls will have this hybrid body; this is only for the 5th anniversary dolls. From what I learned, they were sold out in the convention. W Club also secured a few for their members through a lottery for right to buy.

I think this one is the best of the three - great make up and hair style, interesting outfit and beautiful accessories. The glasses are just like the Royaltini FR ones. Her hair style is a duplicate of Eugenia A Touch Of  Frost 2013 W Club doll.

Item # PP073
Evening Ingenue
Poppy Parker 5th Anniversary Collection
2014 IFDC IT DIRECT Exclusive
Limited Edition of 300 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: $150.00 USD

Doll Tech Specs:
Body Type: Poppy Parker Hybrid (w/ High-heeled Foot)
Head Sculpt: Poppy Parker
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair Color: Blond
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied

Poppy Parker is wearing a floor length strapless coral and black dress, accessorized with black chrome earrings, necklace and bracelet. A black satin clutch, black patent leather belt and platform sandals complete her ensemble. Her blonde hair is in a half up and half down style. 12-inch articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair. Doll stand included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

The dress on this one is a dead ringer for the FR2 versions of Vanessa and Veronique (in their original sculpts) a few years ago. From the convention photos of the real doll I saw, the pleats are a bit more shaped and rigid. I do not like her make up at all.

Glamorous Darling
Poppy Parker 5th Anniversary Collection
2014 IFDC Convention Exclusive Doll
Limited Edition of 300 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: $175.00 USD

Doll Tech Specs:
Body Type: Poppy Parker Hybrid (w/ High-heeled Foot)
Head Sculpt: Poppy Parker
Quick Switch Feature: No

Poppy is in a gorgeous lilac gown accessorized with lilac and silver earrings, bracelet and ring. A purple satin clutch and lilac patent leather platform pumps complete the ensemble. Her dark brunette and black hair is in a side swept style. 12-inch articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair. Doll stand included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

I love the hairstyle on this one. Beautiful doll but a bit Barbie looking. The bracelet  is the same as Bittersweet Eugenia's from the 2013 IT convention. The clutch seems dark in the first photo but much brighter in the last one (which probably shows the correct shade).
