Tonner Doll Mainline 2013 release: Scarlett and American Model 22"

I am a big fan of Gone With The Wind and so I had to have Scarlett dolls - one of my first ever dolls was the Franklin Mint Scarlett. I have several of the Tonner ladies too, plus Rhett and Melanie, so I could not leave out the sole release of the GWTW Tonner Doll line. To complete this post, I will include the 22"American Model releases, because the era (but not the size) of their outfits fits Scarlett to a T. There is of course a 22" Scarlett release as well but there are no photos of her yet.

Scarlett
Price: $224.99

This is the only Scarlett 16"release on the mainline so far. She is a dressed doll (there are so many dressed Scarlett dolls by Tonner that Franklin Mint must have less than half of them by now).  She has of course the Vivien Leigh portrait sculpt  on a 16" Tyler bending wrist body with the Tyler skin tone. She has the famous green painted eyes and  brown rooted saran hair. She is wearing a  red dress with black trim and red beads and a gold brooch at the collar and bronze hair decoration. She sports a white petticoat, nude pantyhose with attached panties and red taffeta shoes to match. She comes with her stand.

There is no description on the Tonner website but fans of the film already know this is the dress Scarlett is wearing as Mrs. Kennedy, when trying to convinve Ashley to come work for her. The hairdo is not a match as you can see below.

The brooch at the neck is not similar either (where is the red stone at the middle?) but it looks intricate. It should have sat on top of the collar though, not beneath it.

The rest of the outfit is a perfect match. I cannot remember what she was holding at the photo below.

You can see how the bronze hair ornament is supposed to look like in the film capture below, although no photo fro the company shows it.

The other Scarlett release is a 22"version of the wedding dress dol, but no photos of her are available yet. She would be a sized up version of her 2012 16"release by Tonner, seen below:

Tonner Doll Mainline 2013 release: Cami & Jon

Cami & Jon is the youthful fashion line for Tonner Dolls. It must be popular as it had the largest number of dolls and outfits in it, plus a new sculpt, an Asian character. There are three basic dolls, one dressed doll and four outfits!

The only dressed doll is a Cami head sculpt on an Antoinette™ body with the Cameo skin tone. She has brown painted eyes and flame red rooted saran hair, Her outfit consists of a pink and red tank dress, nude pantyhose with attached panties, antiqued gold sunglasses, a bag with pink multi-dot design and a pair of pink faux leather shoes. She comes with a stand.

She looks fantastic but why oh why don't we have a face pic without the sunglasses? How is someone supposed to buy a doll without seeing her face? This time though there is A BAG! Finally! And a cute one too! Fab shoes.

The first basic doll is Cami on the Antoinette™ body with the Cameo skin tone. She has painted blue/grey eyes and a pale blonde saran wig. She is wearing red shorts with black stitching, a black tank top with a black and white stripe star decoration and red stitching and black elastic strap shoes with a red platform. She comes with a stand.

The "theme" running through this collection seems to be navy inspired with all the stars and stripes. Very cute.

The second basic doll is Jon on the Antoinette™ body with the Honey skin tone. She has painted brown eyes and a chestnut saran wig. She wears black shorts with a white star decoration and red stitching, a red and white striped shirt with black stitching and black elastic strap shoes with a red platform. She comes with a stand.

I like the previous outfit better but this wig colour is way more beautiful. All the outfits of the basic dolls plus one of the separate outfits could really mix and match.

The third basic doll is a new Asian head sculpt, Liu Liu, on an Antoinette™ body with the Cameo skin tone. She has painted brown eyes and a black saran wig. She wears black and white striped shorts with red stitching, a black and white shirt with red star decorations and red stitching, and black elastic strap shoes with a red platform. She comes with a stand.

Tonner always does great Asian sculpts and this one is no exception. I might be getting her if she is released in a dressed doll version, although I do not have another doll with this body. She is smiling too! Love her.

The first of four outfits is the one that I wrote above, that matches the ones from the basic dolls. It consists of a tan and black stripe skirt, a tan bodysuit with star decoration and black and red trim, a red faux leather belt, a red jacket with black trim and gold buttons and black elastic strap platform shoes.

Two things: it needed a bag (to really mean business  and the shoes should have been different than the basci doll ones. Spectator pumps maybe.

LE 300

The second outfit consists of a green, orange, and gold lace dress with a ruffled bodice, a metallic bronze faux leather belt, orange tights, gold bracelets, gold rhinestone earrings and gold faux leather shoes with a sculpted heel.

The lace detail is amazing. I like the colours as well, the Autumn palette.

The shoes look a bit weird, like they are spray painted. Are the heels bendy? I hope the production pair is better than this one.

Purple Haze - Outfit
Price $89.99

T13CJOF04
LE 300

The third outfit is a light purple lace ruffle dress. It comes with gold faux leather shoes, a gold spiral bracelet and matching gold spiral necklace.

This looks cute (but almost like a knit dress). The winners here are the bracelet and necklace. They look like Greek world renowned jeweller Zolotas would have designed them.

A Day Away - Outfit
Price: $99.99

LE 300

The last outfit consists of a black jacket with faux fur cuffs and a black patent leather belt, cream and gold rib knit hooded sweater with black faux fur trim, black velveteen stirrup pants and black faux leather boots with faux fur trim.

This is the odd one out - a winter ensemble in a summer collection. But it looks really good and funky. I bet it will be a hit. This Cami & Jon collection is one of the best ever.

Tonner Doll Mainline 2013 release: Precarious and Antoinette

The two top fashion lines for Tonner Doll are Precarious, which is the more recent, edgy one, and Antoinette, which is the younger but fashion forward line. I am grouping them together as they both had the smallest number of new releases this time. Oh, they do share the same body as well.

Tamed
Price: $199.99

T13PRDD01
LE 300

The Precarious Tamed dressed doll has the Precarious™ head sculpt on the Antoinette™ body with a Cameo skin tone. She has green painted eyes with applied eyelashes and mink non-removable wigged saran hair. She wears a green velvet bodysuit under a green velvet burnout jacket and skirt. To complete the look, she has a green beaded necklace, metallic green faux leather gloves with mesh backing, green tights, nude pantyhose and a pair of green faux leather shoes. She comes with a stand.

She is a beautiful doll. I love the colours both of the doll and the outfit. The cut of the outfit is not that great for me though, although the devoré velvet is gorgeous. She should have had a pair of earrings (preferably long ones) and a nice bag to complete this. Bags are really missing from Tonner outfits. Robert, are you listening? For these prices, they should be part of the outfit. The shoes are a bit tame for this look.

She wears a pale pink bodysuit with metallic print, pale pink elastic strap platform shoes and pink metallic sunglasses. She comes with a stand.

Cute in an edgy way but nothing special. For a basic doll she is really good though.

The Antoinette basic doll has the Antoinette™ head sculpt on an Antoinette™ body with the Cameo skin tone. She has hazel painted eyes and brown rooted saran hair. She wears a leopard print bodysuit over nude pantyhose, gold faux leather shoes and gold sunglasses. She comes with a stand.

The Antoinette line has only one basic doll and no dressed ones. She is a beautiful doll, with a lovely face and luscious hair. She should have had applied eyelashes though.

There are two outfits for the line. They fit dolls such as Antoinette™, Cami & Jon™ but also Precarious. This one is a gold lamé dress with sequinned lace overlay and feathered skirt. It comes with gold shimmer tights and gold glitter shoes.

It is not my style but I love the feather skirt. Pity they did not release a close up of the shoes.

Fanciful - Outfit

The second outfit is a blue/purple iridescent semi-open back gown with flower and beaded decoration on the bodice and tiered skirt layers with a ruffle trim. Under the skirt is a white crinoline petticoat to keep the volume. It comes with matching faux leather shoes and beaded cluster earrings.

This one is quite an extravaganza! It reminds me of John Galliano's Dior gowns. It has lots of fabric, that is probably the reason for the pricing.

Tonner Doll Mainline Release 2013 - Tyler Wentworth

Tonner Doll revealed their mainline release a while ago, with a variety of styles and doll series, many of them fashion and many from the films they hold licences for, older and new. We will check out most of them, starting with the classic Tonner fashion line, Tyler Wentworth. This includes two dressed dolls, two basics and one outfit.

Sydney is a dressed doll in fine quality vinyl and hard plastic. She has the classic Sydney head sculpt and the 16" Tyler bending wrist body in the Tyler skin tone. She has blue painted eyes, mink rooted saran hair. Her outfit is a red one shoulder strap ruffle dress, accessorized with a matching red fascinator with faux flowers, rhinestones, and veil. Finishing the look are red rhinestone stud earrings, a red rhinestone bracelet, nude pantyhose and red satin pumps. She comes with a stand.

Normally fascinators like this are intended to be worn with cocktail suits or dresses, for official morning or afternoon functions. It looks way over the top with a long gown, which should have something quite different accompanying it. The dress is just a cascade of ruffles, which for me is too much. A combination of draping and flounce, like the Ungaro dresses of the 80s, would look way better. Sydney looks beautiful though.

The Classic Elegance Tyler is a  dressed doll with the Tyler head sculpt and the 16" Tyler bending wrist body in the Tyler skin tone. She has light green painted eyes and flame rooted saran hair. She is wearing a black velvet dress with attached ribbon belt and rhinestone decoration. The outfit comes with rhinestone bracelets and matching rhinestone earrings. She wears nude pantyhose with attached panties and black faux suede shoes. She comes with a stand.

This is a very beautiful Tyler, I am a sucker for red hair and green eyes. She reminds me of Rita Hayworth in Gilda, but translated into a tamer, more fashion-y style. Superb.

This is one of the basic dolls. She has the Sydney head sculpt on a 16" Tyler bending wrist body in the Tyler skin tone. She has grey painted eyes and golden blonde removable wigged saran hair. She wears a gold and yellow lamé swimsuit with a pair of gold molded plastic shoes and gold sunglasses. She comes with a stand.

If you see the close up photo above, it looks like they photoshopped the wig on the doll - and a really bad photoshop job it is.  It surely makes the doll look worse than she really is.

There it is again. Botched photoshop job. Even worse than the previous one. And the doll looks so beautiful, but the impression is ruined by the photoshopped wig. Shame.

The only outfit of the series. It fits the 16" Tyler bending wrist body. It consists of a gunmetal taffeta skirt with rosettes, a grey bodysuit with dark grey draped chiffon overlay. The outfit is finished with a gunmetal faux leather textured belt with beaded decoration, metallic tights, a pair of grey faux leather shoes and a pair of gunmetal silver flower cut-out earrings.

I love the ruched gathering of the top and the faux leather of the belt looks great too. The earrings are magnificent from what little they show. Really nice.

Integrity Toys 1st on-line presentation 2013: Funny Face

The fourth and final line presented at the on-line event was the one most anticipated, as an ad had run in DOLLS magazine (much like Tulabelle) and also previewed at the 2012 convention and the W Club. Furthermore it had the success of last year's Sabrina line to buoy it. The result left all fans breathless. To me it is the best collection ever presented by Integrity Toys - and the one most likely to break us financially. Six dolls, most in giftsets of two to three outfits each and one more as the event doll that will be allocated to lucky W Club member via lottery. Each doll is only 400 pieces so it was only natural some would be sold out. If the prices were lower, I bet all would already be sold out.
This time Integrity did not use one sculpt only for the main character. It also did not give us only one character. A variety of sculpts and bodies were used with great success. Needless to say that after the event, I watched the film again, spotting the outfits in the film and enjoying the incredible talent that created it. As a reminder, Givenchy created all of Audrey Hepburn's Jo Stoctkon character Parisian outfits while Edith Head designed the rest. But enough rambling, let's see the dolls!

Take The Picture!
Dressed Doll
The Funny Face Collection
Limited Edition of 400 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: US $150.00
Estimated Delivery Date: Week of February 11th, 2013

The iconic moment in the film that Audrey is running down the steps below the statue of the Winged Victory of Samothrace in the Louvre, shouting to Fred Astaire "Take The Picture". There were two previous incarnations of the outfit on dolls, one by Mattel for a convention and one by Madame Alexander in 16" size. It is a magnificent reproduction. And the moment means a lot to me as this is my favourite sculpture in the world.

"Take The Picture!" is a 12" fully articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes featuring Integrity's Poppy Parker body (with kitten heel foot) and the original Vanessa Perrin head sculpt (i.e. Vanessa 1.0). The outfit consists of a long form-fitted red satin gown, dramatic white opera gloves, a jewellery set, matching kitten heels and a bright red chiffon shawl. It also includes an alternate set of hands, a doll stand and a certificate of authenticity. Magnifique!

Item # 14012
Think Pink
Dressed Doll Mini-Gift Set
The Funny Face Collection
Limited Edition of 400 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: US $150.00
Estimated Delivery Date: Week of February 11th, 2013

One of the most memorable musical numbers in the film is "Think Pink" with the indomitable Kay Thompson (more about her later). So it was only natural that one outfit at least would be selected. Well, guess again: there are two. The 12" fully articulated vinyl doll has rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes and sports the FR: Monogram body (with Victoire Roux legs) and the Imogen head sculpt. The first look in the set (which is worn by a dancer in the film, when a bunch of painters change the colours of the office doors to pink and ladies appear to dance among them) is composed of a two-piece bright pink business suit with a white pill-box hat, short gloves and matching shoes. You can see it in the photo below, on the far right.

The doll is evoking the model Sunny Harnett who appears in the film along more famous models Suzy Parker and Dovima (who has a speaking role). Suzy appears with many outfits in the sequence but most notably the second outfit of this gift set  This look is composed of a pink satin two-piece gown with a transformable pink faux fur peplum that turns into a cape, as shown in the film.  Pink opera length gloves, bright pink satin shoes and a jewellery set complete the outfit. It also includes an alternate set of hands, a doll stand and a certificate of authenticity.

Wish I had the car to go with the doll!

Item # 14013
The Quality Woman
Dressed Doll Gift Set
The Funny Face Collection
Limited Edition of 400 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: US $199.00
Estimated Delivery Date: Week of February 11th, 2013

As mentioned above, Kay Thompson (as Maggie Prescott) is the actress that sings "Think Pink". A veritable force of nature, Ms. Prescott was a multi-talented artist, with only five films, lots of jazz singing and of course writer of the Eloise books. She was a musical coach in MGM and was loaned to Paramount for Funny Face (along with most of the cast and crew). This gift set (named after her ideal woman to represent her magazine, Quality) gives us three of her outfits in the film, unfortunately not the best ones. I am posting stills from the film so you can see the outfits as worn by her, above is the blue and beige one. I think the shirt colour is not a  match.

You can see the black and white ensemble above. I love that they have the accessories down pat. Her hair could have had less volume though.

The third one is the grey suit in "Think Pink". The shape marks the transition from the "New Look" sharp waist to the more boxy "Trapeze" and "A-line" silhouette of the late fifties and early sixties.

So what about the doll? "The Quality Woman" is a 12" fully articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes featuring Integrity's Victoire Roux body and Katy Perry sculpt (I asked about it in the on-line event!) in the role of Maggie Prescott. The set of three looks also features two pairs of shoes, gloves, three hats, a purse and a jewellery set. It also includes an alternate set of hands, a doll stand and a certificate of authenticity.

I think they could have missed the two-piece ensembles and have done the following two:

Or even the two shown below:

On How To Be Lovely
Dressed Doll Gift Set

"On How To Be Lovely" indeed! Could not have chosen a better name! Three outfits here and all incredible. The doll has rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes featuring Integrity's Poppy Parker body and the new Veronique Perrin sculpt (who looks uncanilly here like Michelle Dockery who plays Lady Mary in Downton Abbey) . This gift set is composed of three complete looks as worn by the character of Jo Stockton in the film: the pink cape and white column dress worn in her transformation scene (above), the delicate wedding outfit worn during the photo shoot with Fred Astaire and at the finale of the show and the film and also the yellow dress worn in the fashion show (below). This set also features the accessories to finish the looks and of course the bridal bouquet. It also includes an alternate set of hands, a doll stand and a certificate of authenticity.

I wish we had more photos of the bridal gown, the actual dress from the film has so many details!

Limited Edition of 400 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: US $199.00
Estimated Delivery Date: Week of February 11th, 2013

Another Jo gift set! More outfits! "Bonjour, Paris!" is a 12" fully articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes featuring Integrity's Poppy Parker body and the original Veronique Perrin (i.e Vero 1.0) sculpt in the role of Jo Stockton. This gift set is composed of three complete looks as worn by the character of Joe Stockton in the film. This set also features accessories to finish these gorgeous looks and a bouquet of miniature balloons to recreate the iconic Parisian photo shoot scene at Champs Élysées   It also includes an alternate set of hands, a doll stand and a certificate of authenticity. The outfits are:

1. "Beautiful" dress and cloak. They missed the matching scarf though.

2. Catching a fish outfit - looks divine!

3. Balloon dress at Champs Élysées - it even has the balloons!

Item # 14018
A Woman Who Thinks
Dressed Doll Mini-Gift Set
The Funny Face Collection
Limited Edition of 400 dolls
Suggested Retail Price: US $150.00
Estimated Delivery Date: Week of February 11th, 2013

The best doll of the bunch strangely enough is not one of the Jo Stocktons but the one portraying Marion, or better yet, Dovima, the iconic 50's model who was an Avedon muse (she is in the famous elephant photo of his) and plays a parody of herself in the film, down to the comic she reads in a scene (she had a huge collection). "A Woman Who Thinks" is a 12" fully articulated vinyl doll featuring the FR: Monogram body (with Victoire Roux legs) and the Anja head sculpt in the role of Marion. Anja looks amazing as Dovima! This mini-gift set is composed of two complete looks as worn by the character of Marion in the film - the black scalloped neckline dress and the yellow full skirted one (the She-bop as they call it in the film). The set also features the accessories to finish these looks (unfortunately no comic or statue, LOL). It also includes an alternate set of hands, a doll stand and a certificate of authenticity.

There is no image available on-line for this one, I had to make my own capture from the DVD!

And there was one more doll - the event doll. Another Jo Stockton one, but only available to W Club members through lottery. I entered the lottery and hope to win.

"Let's Kiss And Make Up" is a 12" fully articulated vinyl doll featuring Integrity's Poppy Parker body and the closed mouth Vanessa Perrin sculpt (i.e. Vanessa 2.0, looking even more like Michelle Dockery than Vero's  2.0 sculpt does) in the role of Jo Stockton. The set is composed of three complete looks as worn by the character of Jo Stockton in the film: The Anna Karenina photo shoot suit, the yellow flower shop dress and the beige fashion show suit. This set also features the accessories to finish these looks: three beautiful hats, a travel purse, three pairs of shoes, a rose bouquet, a faux-mink coat, an umbrella (non-working) and the little dog of course! So many dolls, so many dresses such an extraordinary collection. I'm going for broke trying to get them all and hope to manage it. Audrey is one of my muses and icons and it is a perfect homage to her and to this visually brilliant film.
