The Premiere: Integrity Toys 2013 convention - Day II

Friday begun with a Poppy Parker luncheon. It was announced that next year's Poppy main line release will be spy-themed. Spy movies were the new and popular genre in the 1960's so it fits Poppy well. Also remember that She's Not There Poppy was wearing an Avengers Emma Peel costume. The line is named "The Girl from I.N.T.E.G.R.I.T.Y", after the great TV series of that decade, "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.". Two new Poppy dolls greeted the guests, one as a centerpiece and one as a gift.

Elegant Evening

Dressed Doll
2013 Convention Exclusive Centerpiece

Lovely Poppy as usual. The skin tone is a bit tan. The embroidery and colouring remind me of the last two Dolce & Gabanna collections.

Poppy Parker™

2013 Convention Exclusive Giveaway

Another beautiful doll here, minimal accessories, basic fashion but her face is gorgeous.

The dinner had a theme: it was the Fashion Royalty Feud Game Show Dinner with Mark Tinkey. People were picked to participate from the audience, competing on their knowledge of the two teams: team Natalia vs. team Vero. Prizes were awarded to the winners of course. Two dolls again greeted the attendants: the centerpiece and the giveaway.

Bellissima
Natalia Fatalé
2013 Convention Exclusive Centerpiece

This is a much better looking Natalia then the convention collection one! Correct me if I am wrong but it is the first time she has the flame red hair. We had red-haired Natalia dolls before, but they had darker tones. She reminds me of many things: Rita Hayworth (both hair and dress cut) and Magnetism Monogram come to mind. Great dress and shoes too. If there were "gems" instead of flowers, the jewellery would be great too.

Item # 91332
Dangerous To Know
Kyori Sato™
Dressed Doll
2013 Convention Exclusive Giveaway

Finally a Kyori Sato that looks positively Asian. I know the cheongsam /qipao dress is a bit stereotypical but I love the silhouette it creates and she is fierce! Great accessories too, but she should have had a cuff bracelet as well. And if you noticed, the no-bag trend continues.

The Premiere: Integrity Toys 2013 convention - Color Infusion Style Lab

The Color Infusion Style Lab is a big success of the convention ever since it was established. People combine nude dolls with a variety of fashions to make their own mix-and-match dolls. Some of the combinations can be seen below. One male sculpt is new (Declan), the rest are re-purposed Jem or other line sculpts and some old favourites such as Romain (twice). There are four boys and ten girls

The Premiere: Integrity Toys 2013 Convention Collection

Each annual Integrity Toys convention has a collection designed especially for it. Attendees can either pre-order the entire collection months before (sight unseen) but also have the option to wait until the actual event to make their purchases and pick the dolls they like. On Thursday, the new FR collection designed by Jason Wu and Vaughn Sawyers, along with a great Poppy Parker doll created by David Buttry, was presented to attendees. The Integrity Toys Souvenir Shop was all dressed up in white just for the occasion. Let's see the dolls:

Item # 91323
October Issue
Agnes Von Weiss™
Dressed Doll
2013 Convention Collection Exclusive

Agnes is always popular and she is an event-only doll (apart some WClub exlusives) so she's always a part of the convention collection. I read some comments on social media, saying that she's dressed like a maid, but I have not seen many maids wearing miniature crock pumps and a large "diamond" ring. She has a certain French vibe, like a model from a Guy Bourdain photo session or a Helmut Newton one. Gorgeous.

Item # 91324
Paparazzi Darling
Adèle Makéda™
Dressed Doll
2013 Convention Collection Exclusive

This Adele looks even more like Olivia Pope then her previous incarnations. Ever since the change of sculpt, she keeps reminding me more and more of her with every release. I love the top but would have preferred it asymmetrical rather than this more conservative option.

Item # 91325
Bittersweet
Eugenia Perrin-Frost™
Dressed Doll
2013 Convention Collection Exclusive

A beautiful Eugenia, with violet eyes and red hair! I love the dress too, both colour and cut are amazing. The only thing out of place is those pink lips - a coral shade would look so much more modern and would compliment both her hair and outfit.

Item # 91326
Breathless
Véronique Perrin™
Dressed Doll 2013
Convention Collection Exclusive

The first of the two Veros in the collection. I have no idea why there had to be two Veros, why not Kyori or another of the many characters of the FR universe? This one looks gorgeous though, and the detail of the back of her jacket is lovely. Shoes look great too, pity the rest of the accessories are basic. And I just noticed that there are no bags to be seen throughout the collection. Hope this trend does not transfer to the 2014 Integrity collections.

Item # 91327
Brazen Beauty Natalia Fatalé™
Dressed Doll
2013 Convention Collection Exclusive

This Natalia is almost a dead ringer for Miami Glow Vanessa Perrin - the colouring, the hair, the gold accents, the embroidery, everything reminds me of her.Beautiful but a bit boring. I like Natalia more in darker colouring.

Item # 91328
Bewitching
Véronique Perrin™
Dressed Doll
2013 Convention Collection Exclusive

This is the aforementioned second Vero doll. She looks a bit different in her eye design. The dress is nothing extraordinary but she has nice jewellery (with a ring!) and lovely black patent stiletto pumps with red insteps.

Item # PP054
Star in the Making
Poppy Parker™
Dressed Doll
2013 Convention Collection Exclusive

Poppy is a dead ringer for Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's here - but in white instead of black. If they had released this type of Poppy instead of the Holly sculpt in the BAT collection, it would have been so much better. Amazing doll. We want more like this one in the regular collection please.

The Premiere: Integrity Convention 2013 - Day I

The annual Integrity Toys convention is always a major event both for the company and the many fashion doll collectors that covet the exclusive dolls presented during the proceedings. It is also the moment of the year when important announcements are made for the company's future collections. The first day was Thursday, 31st of October, Halloween! Let's see what happened over in Los Angeles, where the event takes place this year. It is called The Premiere, probably because the new FR doll body is officially premièring in this collection (it unnoficially made its début with the exclusive FR2 Purity Dasha doll). It also celebrates ten years of annual conventions, making it even more special.

First thing to do when attending a convention is, of course, registering! Each guest received a welcome swag bag that contained a welcome envelope, a copy of the latest DOLLS Magazine and as is the norm these past few years, a doll: this time it was an FR:Monogram doll which will probably become a giftset with various outfits and accessories given throughout the duration of the convention. She is a lovely Monogram and one of the last released as the line will be discontinued.

This Poppy is ready for her make up session! Simple yet lovely. Workshop Poppy dolls are usually extremely popular.

Item # 93034
Shining Star
FR: Monogram™
Workshop Doll
2013 Convention Exclusive

Another Monogram doll! They might be discontinued but they will go out with a bang. She's very beautiful and makes me wonder why the last couple of years of this line did not have dolls like this in their collections. Sigh.

Item # 91314A
W Cosmetics Hair Care
Fashion Royalty®
Workshop Doll
2013 Convention Exclusive

This is an Elise doll, one of the best Elise releases I have seen. She has the new FR2 body like Purity Dasha and the rest of the FR convention collection. Wish I could get this one but it will definitely have a forbidding price on the secondary market.

The evening had an event scheduled in the ballroom and attendees could wear their Halloween costume! There was a costume parade so that everyone could admire the effort and imagination of the costumed members! People who had attended all ten conventions got a silver trophy from Integrity as a memento. Of course there was a centerpiece doll for the event, and this was none other than...

Item # 91329
After Tonight
Eugenia Perrin-Frost™
Dressed Doll
2013 Convention Exclusive Centerpiece

She's breathtakingly beautiful and very retro looking. With the grey brows, she reminds me of Gene Marshall. Pity the full skirt hides the pink booties! The centerpiece dolls are raffled to their respective tables so there were some really happy people coming out of that ballroom! But everyone got a doll: there was one as a give away and it was...

Item # 91330

Agnes Von Weiss™

2013 Convention Exclusive Giveaway

A tan Agnes is surely a great way to end the first day of the convention. Which also included the presentation of the convention collection, coming up in the next post.

Take The Picture! - Jo Stockton in Funny Face doll by Integrity Toys

The Funny Face collection is one of the best doll ensembles that Integrity Toys (or any doll company for that matter) has ever released. Each and every doll in it stands out, portraying one of the characters of the film with one ore more ensembles to evoke certain film moment. Arguably, the most iconic scene in the film is the one where Audrey Hepburn is being photographed as Jo Stockton by Fred Astaire as Dick Avery (Dick Avedon of course) as she descends the Louvre stairs beneath the statue of the Nike (Winged Victory) of Samothrace. While she does that, she's shouting to him, "Take the picture!" as she's on the move, stepping down, waving her muslin shawl above her, in an effort to mimic the statue's pose. This is the moment that the "Take The Picture!" doll represents. And it does so perfectly.

I tried to re-create the scene by printing a retouched photograph of it (the retouching involved removing Audrey from it). Then strings, lighting and a feeble wind machine (a small heater actually with the temperature set to zero) came to the rescue. Wish I had a proper fan to blow that shawl properly.

The doll is amazing. As mentioned at the presentation, she uses the Poppy Parker body, but it is the one used for the Breakfast At Tiffany's dolls: this means no ankle joint. The foot is made for kitten heels, which absolutely fits the film and Audrey's outfits. It also offers a better looking result. I know this is not to everyone's liking but for this doll, in my opinion, works best.

The dress is a faithful recreation of the costume from the film, with the small neat bows on the top and bottom, the slit at the back and the two panels that form trains behind. The shawl is here of course, as are the gloves (elbow length), which are slightly better than the usual mitten-type ones (and get even better with some water sculpting) and kitten heel red fabric shoes. The quality of craftsmanship is very high.

The doll has the original iconic Vanessa Perrin sculpt, used here to perfection. She also reminds me a lot of Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary from Downton Abbey, much like the Let's Kiss And Make Up doll does (with the Vanessa 2.0 sculpt). Not a bad thing at all. She also has an extra pair of hands. Her face paint is gorgeous, in two shades of brown and full red lips. Her hair is neatly gathered into a chignon at the back, with a side part at the front and her long bangs swept to the side over her forehead.

The most impressive of her accessories is of course her necklace. It is intricately made, with lots of different colour and size stones set in it. It proves that when Integrity wants to, it can make marvels. A pair of earrings with two stones each (white and red) finishes off the set. Below is a photograph of the necklace with the top of the dress pulled down to show it off in its entire length.
