A character from the past makes a rare appearance - Dania Zarr is back!

The last W Club doll for 2014 was announced a few days ago to its members. The character picked for the occasion was a surprise for many, as it is one outside the core 8 ones that make up the regular release dolls of the Fashion Royalty line. Dania is a popular sculpt so I guess this factored in a bit.

FInal Victoire Roux dolls for 2014 - two of them!

The last release from Integrity Toys for 2014 is a pair of Victoire Roux dolls, available to order at all Integrity Toys dealers. Remember that this is the first time dealers are selling Victoire dolls - they usually are either W Club specials or IT Direct. Does this mean that the line is becoming more popular? I am a bit picky about the dolls I get from this line as they all share the same sculpt so they must really be something extraordinary to catch my attention. Let's see how these two fared.

Skin Tones: FR White
Hair Color: Platinum
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied

Victoire Roux is a 12-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with flowing wavy platinum hair and hand-applied eyelashes. Victoire is casually dressed in a stylish ensemble composed of a sheer chiffon blouse with built-in bustier and capri pants, cinched at the waist by a pale grey chiffon belt. The look is completed by silver open-toe pumps, a fashion magazine, a pillow and earrings. A doll stand is included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

Beautiful looking doll and in a hair colour I do not own (my two Victoires are different shades of red). But she has an almost too simple hair do (although it does have potential) and I'm not that crazy about her outfit - a hostess ensemble might have looked better with those capri pants. Minimal accessories too - almost a basic doll.

Suggested Retail Price: $99.00 US
Limited Edition Size: 600
Ship Date: Available for immediate pre-order from your favorite IT Dealers (dolls will ship to IT dealers on approximately Monday, December 8th, 2014)

Doll Tech Specs:

Skin Tones: FR White
Hair Color: Red
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied

Victoire Roux is a 12-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with red hair and hand-applied eyelashes. Victoire wears a fitted brocade travel ensemble and comes with accessories to complete her look: a pair of earrings, a matching pearl necklace, gloves, hat and shoes. A doll stand is also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

This one could have been really stunning, instead she's simply nice. Red hair - again! A dark shade could have been so much better - after all, it is oriental themed. Love the hat and the shape of the outfit but the fabric is not to my taste. Gorgeous green and gold obi-like belt. Boring earrings (enough with those studs) and shoes.

Integrity Toys does American Horror Story dolls in 2015

News that Integrity Toys was going ahead in 2015 with a new license from the entertainment world for a doll line had reached the W Club members ever since the convention. Spoeculation was rife and people were commenting everywhere on which movie or series or comics or books they would like to see taking a new life as dolls. Today the wait is finally over. Integrity announced that they have a license to create a line of high-end fashion dolls based on the iconic looks and characters of AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN!

If you have not yet watched the series, you must know that American Horror Story: Coven is the third season of the FX horror anthology television series American Horror Story. It tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town determined to protect the Coven and hell bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

So you can imagine (if you have not yet seen it, just go ahead and watch it please) that it is chock-full of feisty, glamorous, vicious and brilliant ladies fighting each other to become the next Supreme, while the incumbent one tries to hold on to her throne. And a character that shouts "Balenciaga" (Myrtle Snow, above, played by the brilliant Frances Conroy) surely merits a transformation into the ultimate fashion doll.

The official press release reads as follows:

December 2nd, 2014: As audiences enjoy the debut of the latest instalment of the AMERICAN HORROR STORY saga on television, Integrity Toys, Inc., under license from Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, is thrilled to announce a partnership to produce high-end collectible dolls based on the various characters of fan-favorite COVEN, the iconic third season of the AMERICAN HORROR STORY series.

Pop Culture enthusiasts and fans of the hit TV series alike will be thrilled to take home these intricate collector dolls based on their favorite characters of the bewitching third season of the show! Currently in development, the dolls, slated for release in mid-2015, will be based on the actual likeness of the key characters each dressed in quality miniature replicas of some of their iconic looks from the show. The first dolls are expected to be unveiled in the Spring of 2015 and to ship in Summer 2015.

Integrity Toys designer Vaughn Sawyers voiced his enthusiasm for the collaboration, "As soon as we saw the show on TV, we were mesmerized. The characters, the exciting costumes and the overall feel of the show are just a perfect fit for us to memorialize in miniature for AMERICAN HORROR STORY fans worldwide." While the dolls are being developed ahead of their official unveil next Spring, fans and collectors alike are invited to add their email address to the official notification list for the dolls. So who is your favourite character from this series that you want to see created as a doll? I want Myrtle Snow (above) and Fiona of course, but I am eager to see how the rest of the cast translates into the 1/6 kingdom. Maybe we even get a Stevie Nicks doll (please please please). Below are some photos from the series which showcase some of the best costumes (especially Myrtle's eccentric style, somewhere between fashion editor extraordinaire Grace Coddington and designer and style icon Sonia Rykiel).

French Vogue editorial: models as Barbies

It seems the fashion world is still firmly in thrall of the doll world. French Vogue has done a whole editorial called "Panoplies", with models photographed like NRFB Barbie dolls in their boxes, each with a distinct look, the appropriately styled box and a wealth of accessories inside. The whole thing is magical, from the photography of Giampaolo Sgura and the impeccable styling by Claire Dhelens & Celia Azoulay, The sets are designed by Vincent Olivieri and made by Office Neochrome. Hair by Laurent Phillipon and make up by Lloyd Simmons. Models Magdalena Frackowiak and Elisabeth Erm are wearing looks by Dior, Chanel, Saint Laurent Paris, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, and Valentino. And it is all a very unique and clever way to make the ubiquitous Christmas issue gift editorial so much more interesting. Need I add that I want all of these as fashion doll gift sets? Please?

Limited Edition of 800 Dolls
Special W Club Suggested Retail Price: $120.00

Doll Tech Specs:
Scale: 12-inch / 1:6 Scale
Head Sculpt: Poppy Parker
Body Sculpt: Poppy Parker
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair: Black
Quick Switch Feature: No
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-applied

Poppy Parker is a fully articulated 12-inch vinyl fashion doll with fully rooted hair and delicately hand-applied eyelashes. Poppy is dressed for the holidays in a long ball gown, her shoulders covered by a rich fur trimmed red velvet cape. Accessories and a doll stand are also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

She looks like a princess from a fairytale combined with a real princess of the 50s - think a very young princess Elizabeth or Margaret from England or Grace Kelly if she was a brunette. It's a Poppy with a look right back into the 50s which will definitely satisfy the fans that were not that into her early 70s disco look from the convention. Her 800 edition means that people taking part in the lottery have a better chance of securing the right to purchase this beautiful doll. I love the screening as well.

I hope the "fur" trim looks better in real life as in close up it looks a bit tattered. Maybe it would have been better if it had the texture of shaved mink (not real one of course) and more velvety instead of feathery. I love the white-on-white embroidery on the bodice.

Her accessories are a pair of gloves, kitten heal shoes with a bow (again!), a clutch bag, a mistletoe brooch (cute), a fur muff, a pearl necklace, matching bracelet and pearl stud earrings. These look a bit meagre for such a look - a triple strand necklace and matching triple strand bracelet with clasp would have looked so much better, not to mention at least a pair of pearl drop earrings instead of simple studs. No woman in the 50s would be content with these earrings for such a glamorous holiday look for a ball. And finally, the shoes have been done to death. No new design inspiration?

Her bow does not sit well on her hair but its the prototype photos, I hope it looks better in real life. She is a very glamorous looking lady.
