Dolly Day 2024 - only one day for the previously week-long IT release extravaganza

This W Club year we only got one Dolly Day instead of the multiple days presentations and reveals of dolls and offers usually organised by IT and the club. The unveils were slim pickings accordingly, with the first one being newly available doll replacement bodies, the second a Misaki release, the third a doll outfit and the fourth a Tulabelle True collection. We are going to focus on the last two reveals here.

This is a Jason Wu ensemble, comprising of a combination of separates from his Fall 2022 RTW collection as seen below:

Whereas I find the real clothes gorgeous, the doll translation leaves me cold. The fit and fall of the fabrics leaves a lot to be desired, especially in the lower parts of both coat and skirt. Kudos for the gorgeous shoes, much better tan those shown in the runway photos.

And unfortunately, we do not get the gorgeous Ayemeline shown wearing the outfit. If she was available, I would order her ASAP. Maybe she can be a club doll in 2025, yes Integrity?

IMPORTANT NOTE: Prototypes shown, final product may vary. Fashion set only; prototype Aymeline doll is not included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only.

Adored_Tulabelle_True_Doll

The Story:

As the creative director for her brand, Tulabelle had an impossible challenge for the launch party- how do you dress to embody the spirit of the amazing Prismatica collection without taking away the focus and attention from it? She thought she nailed it, but she looked so adorably gorgeous that much of the social media buzz was, of course, focused on her! -Designed by David Buttry

Adored_Tulabelle_True_Doll

This is the Tulabelle does Barbie collection. Seriously, it’s giving Fashionistas vibes so much. And it’s a bit galling to keep getting Tulabelle with brown eyes while darker skinned dolls get green or light blue eyes. Stop doing that IT designers. Nice outfit, as if inspired by her grandma’s ski-bunny days. We have seen the choker and butterfly ring before.

The Story:

When Tulabelle wants to create a buzz, she absolutely must enlist the help of her friend, Hollis Hughes! Cute but too close to Barbie - even Misaki has had a variation of this type of dress. Can we banish this to fashion purgatory for the next 400 years at least? Love the earrings. The bangs are too severe for the rest of the doll.

Precious_Cargo_Cabot_Clark_doll

This is by far the best doll of this collection, the only one I entered the lottery for. Cabot looks quite different from his previous incarnations, fresh and exciting. He could be part of the Queer Eye team! Love both the outfit and the accessories. his jacket looks like Chanel (especially with the brooch), while the smiley tote makes a good contrast to that. Precious Cargo or saving grace?

Poppy Parker goes on a Mystery Date: part I - Formal Dance and Bowling Date!

A few days ago, W Club members got an invitation for a “slumber party event presentation:. People wandered why the slumber party theme, but many correctly guessed that it was related to Poppy. And since the much talked about pet project of David Buttry, Poppy Parker designer extraordinaire was mentioned in some of the latest online presentations, one could easily connect the dots. Sure enough, when Carol, Alain and David, in their PJs (Alain in a hooded top reminding us of Star Wars, since he was in front of his gorgeous related display) with their pillows, appeared and begun explaining the new collection, it was an Integrity Toys collaboration with Hasbro: Poppy Parker Loves Mystery Date.

Poppy_Parker_Mystery Date collection group shot

Inspired by the classic board game from 1965 where players are preparing to go on a Mystery Date, the Poppy Parker® Loves Mystery Date series includes four two-doll gift sets based on the dates from the vintage board game: Skiing, Bowling, Beach and Formal Dance dates. But, this series comes with a twist: Get one of the special edition sets and Poppy Parker might be accompanied by an elusive “Mystery Date” instead of her expected beau. When you open the door to find out which date is waiting. it could be the date Poppy expects, or "The Stud" (the dud of the original game). A special “mystery” figure is inserted at random throughout these sets. Alain has done an incredible job with the packaging again, combining the original board game illustrations with the Poppy Parker box - there is even the door hiding the guy!

Poppy_Parker_Mystery Date_Package

The concept follows that of the game, where four girls were collecting their outfit’s pieces and, when it was complete, could open the white door to find out their date. It could be any of four different “appropriate” guys or the “dud”, a guy dressed. plainly. How it translates to dolly world? Whether you opt for the Formal Dance, Bowling, Ski, or Beach date gift sets, you have a 1 in 16 chance that Poppy’s date isn’t the beau from the set, but instead "The Stud", an otherwise handsome, scrappy guy dressed as if going to fix his motorbike. There are only 500 of this guy produced over all the sets; this means that 125 are inserted at random in each group of 2000 sets per date and may replace Poppy's intended date without warning. The sets are going to be available through W Club-only "right-to-buy" lotteries. Two sets lotteries will be done now and the next two sets lotteries will be done after the first ones are completed.

*REMINDERS FROM INTEGRITY TOYS*

  • Important! Nobody at Integrity knows which sets contain the “mystery” Stud figure; it will be a surprise upon receipt. We will not be able to confirm which you will receive in advance, nor do any trades or replacements whether or not you get the “traditional” set date or "The Stud". Note that each figure in the sets is packaged individually inside the main package to make trading with other collectors easier;

  • The Poppy Parker dolls are consistent with the set theme;

  • Whether you enter one or all of the lotteries for these gift sets, again note that the “mystery” Stud figures are inserted at random. This means that if you buy all four sets, you might get him once, twice, three times, four times, or none at all. This is completely random and out of Integrity Toys' or the W Club's control as discussed above;

  • The original board game, while referenced on the packaging, is not included with the various gift sets. Also, please see the photos to see what accessories will and won’t be included should you get the “mystery” Stud date figure.

  • Each Set Comes Packaged In Exclusive, Custom Designed Packaging Featuring A Functional Mystery Door And Artwork From The Original 1960s Board Game!

I have no recollection of the board game from when I was I kid, even though we got most of the popular board games from the US translated into Greek. None of its versions ever graced the Greek shops, so there is no nostalgia element for me here, apart from the gorgeous illustrations of the original version, that remind me classic 50s - 60s illustrators like Al Parker, Coby Whitmore and Gerry Fancett among others. You can still get the original game, in a repackaged tin box version. What I don’t get, and Integrity should have been more forthcoming on this, instead of a quick “this is a licensed product, hence not much freedom for modifications” comment, is why are all the dolls white people. Why not have black, asian, latin, native people making up the couples? One of the later versions of the game had such a variety in the illustrations, so Hasbro definitely has done that. It is 2022 people, there is simply no excuse. I find it hard to believe that a big company like Hasbro would make a fuss about skin tones in 2022. And if there was a glitch about this in the licensing process, maybe it is the wrong license to get, regardless of the sentimental/nostalgia factor involved. There could even be a gay couple (we have a 50s one in East 59th, why not a 60s one here?). I’d rather see that than pyjama party shenanigans from Integrity. They have a name to look up to.

The first gift set consists of a rendition of Baby It’s You release: that was the debut of Chip in the storyline. This version of him looks a lot like a colour variation of the original, although with his exaggerated pompadour and pale skin tone, he would fit better as Chevalier Danceny in Dangerous Liaisons. Poppy is playing Barbie - and she nearly looks better, although the gown is rather plain. The set is rather lacking in accessories compared to others in this collection.

The Stud is rather fetching for a “dud”, isn’t he? I would not mind getting him instead of some of the guys offered. Especially considering I do not have this sculpt in my collection yet. If only he was wearing overalls instead of this ghastly pair of jeans. And s toolbox would have been a nice addition, making him more equal to the other guys in terms of accessories.

This is one of my two favourite sets - both for the dolls and their outfits and accessories. Poppy is adorable in her bowling attire, Cabot as well and the bags with the bowling balls are simply gorgeous. Their shoes are fantastic and the soda bottles are the cherry on top. They look amazing together. Poppy reminds me a bit of Co-ed Cutie Poppy. David said that all Poppy dolls of this collection have the Bergdorf screening but with the vintage eyebrows.

Love is Love! The first gay male fashion doll wedding gift set, from Integrity Toys!

A few days ago, Integrity Toys posted on their social media a hint about a very special debut that was going to take place on the 15th of May. People started talking about it on groups and forums because it is a bit rate to unveil something in public without first revealing it in the W Club, whose members have the privilege of getting such information first. Then those posts disappeared, but soon afterwards an email arrived with the details of this special debut. Integrity Toys is releasing a two-doll gift set that has been near and dear to the hearts of everyone on the Integrity Toys team: the Love is Love Cabot Clark and Milo Montez Wedding Gift Set.

love_is_love_milo_cabot_integrity_industry_Lowres_88008_duo_CU.jpg

Integrity Toys has always been about diversity and, let’s not kid ourselves, many of their core clientele are LGTB+. Now they have broken another barrier in the fashion doll world by releasing the first-ever gay male couple fashion doll gift set, Love is Love, just in time for the upcoming LGBT Pride Month. The Love is Love gift set features two 12.5 inch male dolls, each wearing different tuxedos, complete with wedding bands and a miniature invitation, as they celebrate their love and marriage.

They are adorable! Fantastic! Gorgeous! What a great idea and a lovely gift set. Celebrating love for everyone! I so hope to see two lovely ladies as the next couple please! The brocade suit does remind me of the BTS guys a bit, but it is something that has been around for a few years, from Versace to D&G and many more brands. I would have put a lime green shirt on Cabot but I can live with the hot pink one. I hope to be able to secure a set!

Fashion Fairytale: Integrity Toys 2017 Convention part 3 - Style Lab Collection The Industry goes to Wonderland

The Style Lab this year marks a major change. No more CI dolls but in their place, The Industry makes its first convention appearance and some Poppy Parker dolls are added to the mix. I wonder if the Poppies have The Industry body as well, which would be logical since they are part of this collection. The designs are inspired by Alice In Wonderland. As per usual, each doll in the Style Lab is sold nude and outfits are sold separately. Again the group as a whole is underwhelming, especially considering both the general theme but also Wonderland. Some of the fashions do rise above the rest but they are the exception that proves the rule. Pet peeve: why do they describe male dolls as figures? They are dolls, simple as that. Now, shall we go down the rabbit hole?

Integrity had done most of the popular fairytales in their Nu Face line, with Wonderland in IFDC 2010, with Dynamite Girl Gavin as Alice. This version of Alice is a bit darker but not goth enough. Maybe on a different doll? It does give off a Russian folk vibe.

This is the Queen Of Hearts I presume. Not very queenly but oh so Saint Laurent inspired:

There should have been something black instead of those red pants under the coat. A long slit skirt made of fishnet maybe? A mini skirt with a long fishnet overlay making a train in the back? Something suggesting a Queen anyway.

Poppy saves the day again (almost...). This one looks more sexy but not Queenly enough again, as she is the White Queen from Through The Looking Glass. Gorgeous face and Farrah Fawcett hair complement the white dress perfectly. If the boots are fabric I want them!

Here’s the rabbit then. The black and white choice makes it look more like a Playboy bunny dressed for church then a Fairytale inspired one. A monocle and chain watch would have made quite a difference. And the doll is boring, did we not get a similar Liu Liu in the first Industry collection?

I’m so getting tired of pink lips. This Poppy is wearing a modern interpretation of Tweedledee’s outfit (Clueless, right?). The other twin is coming right up and, unfortunately, manages to,upstage his sister!

Milo (new Industry character but I have a suspicion the sculpt is CI) is the Tweedledum incarnation and it rocks! Great doll AND outfit! I might have used a different colour for the jacket though, red or purple.

By far the best doll of this collection, Tate Tanaka is a modern Mad Hatter! I love both the doll and the outfit, they are very well thought out and fit the theme perfectly, bringing to mind some of Nu Fantasy’s best moments (Hansel anyone?).

More cheesy than eccentric, the outfit at least has a good proportion of red vs black. He’s the Knave of Hearts (Lover Boy indeed) and I must say Cabot looks a bit better with dark hair.

There’s always one male doll in each Style Lab collection that I don’t like at all, no matter what. This is the one for 2017, even though he’s channeling the Cheshire Cat, one of my favourite characters of Wonderland. Meh does not even begin to describe it. Another new character (again with an old CI sculpt) for Industry that will look great with a different styling.
