August brings the very first W Club Exclusive offering of the 2026 membership year. Opening the email, I was certain we were getting one of the two Poppy Parker W Exclusive dolls we get every year but no - it is Erin Salston cosplaying Poppy! IT designer Jessy Ayala said he’s bringing out the sweeter side of Erin Salston with the "Bubble Pop" mini gift set, the first of the five exclusive membership dolls. It seems the schedule has returned to “normal” - may I remind you that last year we got the first club doll in November?

The Story:

Erin Salston remained one of the most popular celebrities on social media, known and followed more for her antics and lifestyle than any specific talent. Erin herself had been on a media break after a string of issues—a public “tantrum” during an interview, trashing a 5-star hotel suite after a night of hard partying and even being falsely accused of being part of a high-end “bling ring” jewel heist (from which she was eventually cleared, thanks to her father’s high priced attorneys). Erin was advised, after all of this, to take a little break from the public, of which she begrudgingly obliged. But still, the tales of Erin’s history, false sightings and romance rumors, historical fashion lookbacks and more kept her in the media. It was suggested by the NU. Face agency that perhaps for her coming back into the media’s eye, Erin might benefit from a bit of a makeover to her image. Maybe something sweeter and softer to announce “I’m back” in a way that seemed a bit less…chaotic. At least for now… Nadja, being Erin’s best friend and confidante, decided she would take the lead on the launch of Erin back into the public eye. Nadja had been killing it with corporate sponsorships since her partnership with the Japanese company behind the Big Love Bear bag charms had been such a huge and lucrative success. Erin didn’t care about the money (her family had more than she could ever spend, no matter how hard she tried), but Nadja did. So, Nadja brokered a deal for Erin to be seen in her debut with an exclusive, ultra-limited edition set of sorbet-colored charms. Nadja selected the perfect matching set to go with this luscious color palette, including fashion-forward pedal pushers, with adorable bow ties at the leg. “You are a genius!” Erin told her friend, who decided that a new platinum ‘do would help complete the new, softer look. Nadja then went to another recent corporation, a maker of bubbly drinks and boba tea, to arrange having Erin “papped” coming out of the tea store holding a drink. Nadja secured the perfect bubble skirt for Erin to wear, tying into the bubbly beverage in the most couture way possible. The paparazzi and the internet ate it up. “Sorbet summer” the vibe was named in Erin’s honor, with the sumptuous colors and textures being set as the “IT” look for the season. Nadja was pleased with herself and thought perhaps Erin would be turning over a new leaf with a new outlook. “How’s the boba tea?” Nadja whispered in her friend’s ear as they emerged to a throng of screaming fans asking for selfies and autographs. “Delicious. I spiked it with some vodka…I had a few mini bottles in my purse,” Erin whispered back, taking a long sip on the spiked tea and then turning back to smile and take some selfies with fans. She’s a beautiful girl, Erin Salston - and she is a popular face for Integrity Toys. But having her cosplay Poppy Parker (the most commercial of IT’s lines) is disingenuous. First of all it alienates fans of both Poppy and Erin. Secondly it sends the wrong message and look outwards: mixing up lines, even without literally saying so, looks desperate and messy. I want my Poppy Parker dolls to look like Poppy Parker dolls and my NU Face dolls to look like NU Face dolls. It might have passed had this been Tulabelle paying homage to her grandmother, but not this. Also naming it as a gift set because it has an added pair of pants and plastic shoes plus two paper bags does not cut it. It needed at least a jacket - for example the one shown on the runway where that skirt comes from: the Chloe Spring Summer 2025 collection (where last year’s 1st club doll, Eden, came from). The studded shoes are from their Fall 2024 collection (where Rayna came from), while the pants are a bit older - Coperni Fall 2022.

I am not getting this doll, despite the new screening looking nice (but with her eyes looking a bit tiny). Some people say she fits the upgrade Nadja but to me they do not match at all. They look like coming from two different time lines. And can we stop with the lafoufous already? They are history by now. Done and dusted. Below is the video of the rotating doll.

The London Look Poppy Parker Collection has been revealed!

We usually get a Poppy Parker collection around this time of the year lately and Integrity Toys did the unveiling of the much anticipated new mod collection, named The London Look. We had our first taste of this collection with the W Club registration Poppy and here we are getting five more Poppy Parker Collection dolls (in four offerings), all created by Integrity Toys designer, David Buttry. The overall concept is that Poppy and her friends travel to swinging London to shop for the trendiest looks at the hippest boutiques. We get three Poppy dolls, one Darla and one Ginger.

The mod collections are usually the most popular between Poppy Parker collectors, and this one looks like it is no exception. First up we have a blonde, short-haired Poppy, using a very recent screening (Glamorous Pink, which I do not have). There was no boutique with that name in London back then and I wonder if they would have allowed such a title for a store front sign. She’s a perfect fit for the mod look and we get two outfits plus loads of accessories and an extra pair of high-heeled legs. Despite the short hair, the screening does not make her look like Twiggy (like She’s Not There), but she’s a bit more mature looking. David’s print reminds me of Rudi Gernreich’s work. Glad I was confirmed by my dealer.

I love Darla but I wish they would give her more extravagant hair styles instead of fluffed up pony tails. She has a gorgeous outfit, with that textured coat and lovely matching dress and belt, plus a golden mini dress that fits her singing career. That dress looks like what Jolie James was wearing in her first appearance back in 2014 (that one had a trim at the edges though and it was probably by an YSL original). Her accessories are fantastic (all dolls have the Poppy clothes hanger, a shopping bag and a shoe box plus the extra high heeled feet) and the bag and earring are especially brilliant. Hope I win her in the lottery.

Having played Twiggy a couple of times, it is now Peggy Moffit’s turn to be impersonated by Poppy Parker. And she does a pretty good job at it, even though it is the overall styling, outfits et al, that help cement the impression. I love her and will enter the lottery for her hoping to win but I wish she would have had a more pronounced make up, like Peggy did in most of her photos back then, and also a better trimmed five-point haircut, like the one Vidal Sassoon did on her. David said that this is one of the rare dolls he goes out of the usual route and I say go all the way instead of stopping at half point. Love the pattern of the first dress, designed by David and custom printed for the production, but also adore the window pane check dress with the peter pan collar. The faux fur coat is gorgeous in that shocking pink as is the square-handled bag she sports. Fab fab doll. Finger crossed I win the lotterly.

While Poppy was tied up in morning business meetings, Ginger Gilroy got to hit the town and do a little shopping of her own at her favorite boutique, "Too Much!" Ginger walked in, shopping bags in hand, to Poppy Parker panicking because she forgot to bring a different outfit suitable for the restaurant's dress code. "Ginger to the rescue!" she exclaimed, pulling out an adorable pink mini dress from her shopping bag. Poppy threw her arms around her and said "I owe you big!" but Ginger could still feel Poppy shaking. A two-doll gift set is nothing new for the Poppy Parker collection and here we get another one, with Ginger and Poppy hitting the fashionable Carnaby Street in swinging London, Ginger in a pant suit looks quite different from her usual styles and I love her colour combo (Poppy had that comb in inverse in her & Darla’s gift set as uni girls). Poppy has a dollybird styled look, which I am not a fan of at all, although the doll herself is quite beautiful and has brown eyes. The price is a little higher than what we got before for two doll Poppy sets. I am not entering for this one. Would love to have that green top of Ginger’s though.

The Story:

It has been quite a year for Véronique-- starting with the Anniversary Gala and Adéle’s run in with Agnes, triumphantly getting Elyse on the runway only to have the nonsense with Alexandre Beaumont-Durand-- and Eden. Then there were Agnes’s attempts to copy anything and everything W Cosmetics did, not to mention the drama with her cousins Aymeline and Anais. She was exhausted. And with this year’s Gala just ahead, Véronique intended to set things straight. W Cosmetics had a new spa line launching, and she picked up a gorgeous chocolate brown couture dress with a subtle W motif for the Gala and planned to connect with all her key PR and media contacts. On the evening of the Gala, her head was spinning as she got ready in her luxurious suite at the chic 5-star hotel, Henri 7, near the site of the Gala. She stepped out on to the balcony for a bit of fresh air. As she pushed open the chic French doors, the cool air enveloped her and gave her new resolve. She breathed in, content as she saw the sun setting across Paris’s stunning skyline. But her contentment only lasted a minute, as she became blinded by the rapid flashing of cameras in a rhythmic beat. Instinctively, Véronique grabbed her towelled head with one hand and clasped her robe closed with the other. But it was too late. The paparazzi had captured this not only intimate moment, but one where she was without a stitch of makeup or proper clothing! She texted Vanessa, Adéle, Eugenia and Eden…nobody had a great way to spin this disaster. But the ladies came to Véronique’s suite to help her with her finishing touches. What a missed opportunity to get a “Faces of Veronique” gift set - with the 1.0, 12.5 and 2.0 sculpts showing her in various stages through the story line. And it has all the elements to be a proper tribute to the character that, along with Adèle, started the Fashion Royalty line. The gown look on the 1.0 doll (that has the FR body) is inspired by a magnificent gown by Charles James, the “Butterfly” (which also informs the lovely butterflies on the ribbon-tie shoes that come with it), but also draws a line from early Veronique dolls (Lush Life and Mauve Absolue) up to last year’s Toast To Us Adèle. Note the W shaped bust. And the 1.5 doll hearkens back to dolls like the Close Up Veronique and Evening Chill. Again a W is shaping the bustier. So why not include the 2.0 sculpt as well (even if just the head with the bust) and make it a proper, comprehensive tribute, and justify the $299 price tag?

Despite this, I am still pre-ordering this set. Both dolls look gorgeous, the gown is magnificent, the accessories are fantastic and the bathrobe and hair towel combined with diamonds look is playful, bringing to mind a fantastic photo shoot of Christy Turlington in exactly the same look as well as one with Karen Mulder, both early 90s.I also have a soft spot for the 1.5 Vero with the moulded hair, as she is quite similar to the New Versailles Veronique (wigged with moulded hair as all the four basic dolls were), from the 2006 Pompadour collection, which was the collection and year I started buying Fashion Royalty (20 years!). She’s the only basic doll I do not have from that entire collection.

Since the release of the mermaid Sirène club doll, people have been speculating about the next such doll. And here it is: the fourth W Club Exclusive doll of the 2025 membership year is a gift set, designed again by Jessy Ayala. The Story:

One thing that Agnes von Weiss had always excelled at was taking inspiration from (and credit for!) someone else’s ideas. Now that the AvW lifestyle brand was in full swing, her “inspirational” forces were running high. She had been vexed by the success of W Cosmetics’ Sirène campaign. So, when it was time for AvW to release its new cologne, Agnes came up with an “idea”… “I think we should do a mermaid!” Agnes exclaimed in the staff meeting. Lilith, who had been splitting her time between modeling and her ever-increasing influencer and PR job at AvW, kindly mentioned that W had recently done a mermaid campaign. Agnes cut her off. “Not a mermaid -- a mer-man!” Agnes said, making it seem like it was obvious she had thought of something completely different. Despite its origins, Lilith didn’t hate the idea. And she had the perfect model in mind -- her friend, Thiago Valente. Thiago was handsome and built; he had an appeal that reached both men and women. Plus, he would do anything if the price was right. And he never put up a fuss. He would be a great face for AvW! Then, she had another idea -- what if they packaged the cologne to look like a message in a bottle, just like the prop for the photoshoot? "You're a genius!" Agnes exclaimed. They made the photoshoot into a big spectacle near the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. It drew all kinds of onlookers who stopped their day to catch a glimpse of this perfect merman. The crowds and the staff fawned over Thiago, who flirted back with literally everyone. The results were perfection. Thiago and the stunt created a big “splash” for AvW, with so much buzz brewing that he was starting to get mobbed everywhere he went. The campaign put AvW on a new level. And Thiago was now the season’s “it” guy. Agnes was thrilled. Lilith was thrilled. Agnes’s investors, including billionaire Alexandre Beaumont-Durand, were thrilled. There was one person who was not thrilled though -- Véronique Perrin. She called an emergency meeting of the W Cosmetics staff. First she had to deal with Missima’s underhanded dealings, now she had Agnes copying her every move, and getting even more glory! -Designed by Jessy Ayala

As I had mentioned when reviewing Violaine Sirène, mermaid dolls are not really my cup of tea. They look beautiful and fun, but I collect mainly high fashion dolls, and any “fantasy” dolls I own are quite adjacent to that realm. So cutie Thiago will not make a dent to my doll budget this time. Even his non-mermaid outfit is beach bum territory. His hairstyle limits his versatility to redress and restyle. So, once again, I am happy for those of you that were expecting such a doll but no, thanks.

The box of course matches the one done for Violaine.

The new Poppy is very complimentary of the 2018 IFDC styles, with the addedd bonus that it is a proper gift set: it has three distinct outfits for Poppy, with many possibilities of combinations between the various items included. The one outfit that looks slightly off, but so did many looks of that era, is the granny-styled print top and long skirt look. The shape of the skirt looks frumpy (the words potato sack print were uttered during the presentation LOL) and the scale of the knit shawl results in an awkard (to say it gently) look for the doll. The rest of the clothes fare much better, with the standout being the patchwork mini skirt, which rightly caused David Buttry much enthusiasm during the presentation. The multitude of accessories help show off the clothes in a proper period way, along with those dreadful peace sign hands. As I have mentioned in previous related posts, this style is not a favourite of mine, so I will not be ordering the doll - but I am glad that club members get to have a great value gift set and a Poppy styled like older popular ones but not copying them.
