The story:

Several years back, Poppy Parker's special guest star appearance on the hit British TV series "Misty Hollows" made such a strong impression that when the network decided to make an American spin-off version of the series set in New Orleans called "Return To Misty Hollows", the name that came to mind to play the lead was of course, none other than Miss Poppy Parker! Her sweet disposition and youthful beauty made her the perfect choice to play the "Is she or isn't she?" vampire-next-door character, a fan favorite of the whole series! - Designed by David Buttry

I know people, particularly newer collectors, love having newer versions of older dolls, but it has started to get repetitive and, frankly, quite boring. If you do not have fresh ideas as a creative, maybe take a break and re-focus. Integrity is inching closer to Mattel territory, and it is not good for anyone, except maybe the owner’s wallet. And that is not a good thing for anyone in the long term. Even if one simply opens a fashion catalogue from the 60s and randomly selects a page, they can find an outfit that has not been done yet for this doll. Not to mention Vogue magazines from the era. So please, rethink this strategy IT.

Having said that, the doll here is wearing a dress inspired by two Oscar De La Renta outfits, from his 1968 Fall collection, here photographed by Irving Penn on Windsor Elliot and Lauren Hutton. for US Vogue’s September 1968 issue.

Somehow it does not look as majestic or romantic in its doll version, as it does in the original one. I think that if we got the second iteration, without the frills, it would have looked much better - but it would not be reminiscent of Misty Hollows. Which connects to my previous comments. The second outfit has a gorgeous blouse but I cannot say I am a fan of the overalls. Maybe she should have had some torreador pants, which would channel the dress embroidery. The boots are great, the bag is generic, nice choker and mirror. I love that the doll is the opposite of the Misty Hollows Poppy in colouring, but I would have preferred her with brown eyes and less garish make up.

Gala Glow Up

Zuri Okoty™ Dressed Doll

The Meteor™ Collection

Edition Size: TBD

Expected Ship Date: Late Spring 2025

Head Sculpt: Zuri Okoty

Body Type: Meteor 1.0

Foot Sculpt: High-heeled

Skin Tone: Dark A-Tone

Hair Color: Auburn Brown

Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-applied

MSRP: $175 + S & H

Special W Club Price: $165 + S & H

Sales method: These dolls are guaranteed made-to-order for 2024 W Club members only- 1 per membership ($50.00 NRD deposit due now, $115.00 + S & H due in approximately Late Spring 2025).

The story:

Always "the boss" with her sights set on the brightest future possible, the incredible surge of popularity at the Meteor has made it to where Zuri has no other choice but to move the club to a much larger new location to accommodate all this amazing growth! So, Zuri decided to throw a farewell gala to celebrate all of the wonderful memories they had at their original location, while also celebrating this exciting new chapter ahead. True to form, Zuri is stealing the show in a vibrant gown, a symbol of her unstoppable drive and radiant energy. As the night sparkles with laughter, stories, and anticipation for what’s to come, it’s clear—Zuri’s vision has never been brighter, and neither has she! - Designed by Vaughn Sawyers

Included:

  • 12.5-inch articulated doll with long rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes;

  • Exquisite pale turquoise sleeveless dress with plunging neckline and attached neck ribbon detail, along with a dramatic thigh-high front slit;

  • Panty;

  • Metallic handbag with chain and horsebit detail;

  • Metallic heels with buckled ankle strap detail;

  • Striking oversized martelé texture hoop earrings;

  • Two matching martelé texture cuff bracelets;

  • Matching martelé ring;

  • Pair of long-manicured hands;

  • Alternate pair of grip hands;

  • Doll stand;

  • Certificate of authenticity.

I always love a Zuri doll with the tooth gap showing and this one is no exception. But the shape of her eyeshadow looks a bit weird, especially with that colour. Her dress colour on the other hand is gorgeous and reminds me of Korinne Dumas’ one some years ago. People find the $165 price high for what is on offer but remember that the line’s price is $175 since last year, so the -$10 to me looks just about right. She has an evening dress and a full accessory set with it (intricate Gucci bag included). Also remember that Meteor dolls have a smaller fan base and sell well below other lines, so even the made-to-order dolls will not be reaching the levels of say Poppy or Nu Gace ladies. Smaller edition means more expensive to make, so the price also reflects that. The overall pricing of IT is high as it is, which is a matter for another discussion altogether. I do not have a Zuri with this hairstyle, so I’m on the fence about her.

Seductive Slay

Navia Phan™ Dressed Doll

The Meteor™ Collection

Edition Size: TBD

Expected Ship Date: Late Spring 2025

Head Sculpt: Navia Phan

Body Type: FR 6.0

Foot Sculpt: High-heeled

Skin Tone: Light Honey

Hair Color: Dark Brown Mix

Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-applied

MSRP: $175 + S & H

Special W Club Price: $165 + S & H

Sales method: These dolls are guaranteed made-to-order for 2024 W Club members only- 1 per membership ($50.00 NRD deposit due now, $115.00 + S & H due in approximately Late Spring 2025).

The story:

When tasked with crafting the perfect signature cocktails to match the significance and spirit of the farewell gala, mixologist extraordinaire Navia Phan more than rose to the occasion—she nailed it. Her creation, a bittersweet masterpiece named “Meteor Rising,” captured the essence of the night: a tribute to the Meteor’s original home, while toasting to the exciting future ahead. The drink quickly became the star of the evening, with every guest savoring its rich complexity as they celebrated in style.

But when Navia took center stage to lead the club in a heartfelt farewell toast, she couldn’t help but smile at the attention she was getting. Was it her show-stopping, seductive dress or her unforgettable cocktail that had everyone buzzing? Perhaps it was a little bit of both. - Designed by Vaughn Sawyers

Included:

  • 12.5-inch articulated doll with long rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes;

  • Sultry warm red dress with beautifully draped halter style bodice attached to a seductive skirt with an enticingly exaggerated front slit;

  • Panty;

  • Golden clutch;

  • Golden high heels;

  • Long ornate "jeweled" golden earrings;

  • Matching "jeweled" golden bracelet;

  • Matching oversized "jeweled" golden ring;

  • Pair of long-manicured hands;

  • Alternate pair of grip hands;

  • Doll stand;

  • Certificate of authenticity.

One thing I have to remark upon is that we already got a Navia and a Zuri this year, through the Jason Kramer collaboration. So it would have been nice if we had two different characters released by Vaugh, say Keeki and Amirah, who are, with Zuri, from the original line-up. Having said that, we get another beautifully done Navia - though I still cannot fully like this sculpt, especially the way her features look too small for the size of her head. The red (again) dress is probably “inspired” by LaQuan Smith (same as Nadja’s StyleLab jumpsuit).

Integrity Toys 2024 convention - Stilettos Out day 3: The Final Gala - convention doll and solving the mystery

Saturday night is always the time when the Final Gala of the convention takes place. Participant were “taken” to Italy, where the convoluted plot of the convention concept was finally resolved. "Regenesis" Dasha d'Amboise as Anika Luxottica, designed by Jessy Ayala, returned as the centerpiece doll and was revealed as the shape-shifting villain, while Elisa Bianchi was the mastermind behind the intricate scheme (Elyse Jolie, as unveiled on Thursday).

The winners of the convention design competitions were also announced:

2024 Diorama Design Competition- Into The Evil Lair:

People's Choice Winner: Mary Caraway

Judges Choice Winner: Beverly Medley

2024 Doll Design Competition- Flamboyant Villains Vs. Sensational Agents:

People's Choice Winner: Donald Whitelocke

Judge's Choice Winner: Fredrik Kvernplassen

The winners of the OOAK raffle dolls designed by IT Collaboration Partners Magia 2000, Sinuhe Guzman and Jason Kramer Designs were also picked, as well as the other raffle winners. With everyone's generous support, the event raised over $10,000 for the Trevor Project - awesome!

No real life convention would be complete without the designer who raised Integrity Toys to the next level: Jason Wu joined the hosts on stage for an in-depth interview and to unveil the official convention doll, wearing his creation based on a celebrity-worn design, "Hibiscus" Aymeline. No location for next year’s event was announced. Luckily, the company also pledged to cover all shipping costs for the missing dolls, provided they were shipped to the attendees’ main address.

Let’s see the two final dolls:

In her first incarnation as Anika Luxoticca, designed by Alain Trembley, Dasha became a grail doll for collectors, a much saught after item. This comeback, designed by Jessy Ayala, is again a stunning interpretation of a cyborg doll. Jessy managed to keep elements of the first one but give us a different doll. The cut looks like it was partly inspired also by this Thierry Mugler Haute Couture Winter 1999 gown. And the weird object created from pieces found in the Style Lab dolls, shown here, was her robotic heart. Fabulous.

Another beautiful Aymeline by Jason - her face reminds me a lot of the first one, the incomparable Midnight Garden Aymeline. The original dress was worn by Michelle MJ Rodriguez in the 2019 Emmy Awards and was custom made for her, so this is a very special gown. I love the original and this doll version as well. If I did not already have NAP Aymeline and also the Spring 2020 Aymeline from the 2022 online event, I might have tried getting her. And that’s the end of the first real life convention for Integrity Toys, episodic and definitely unforgettable for all involved.

Integrity Toys 2024 convention - Stilletos Out day 3: The W Club Luncheon

The first W Club luncheon in five years took place on Saturday, the last day of the convention. Attendees were told they arrived in "Egypt" for the luncheon, and discovered that "Oasis" Agnes Von Weiss was the centerpiece doll, designed by Jessy Ayala. And by the end, they were given "Mirage" Giselle Diefendorf as the giveaway doll, also designed by Jessy Ayala, which when combined with "Oasis" forms a fabulous two-doll gift set. Of course the dolls were not there, people could only see photos on the screen or as a cut out on their tables. The prototypes were displayed for people to see and photograph at the designated area. Carol Roth hosted the classic Q & A with the Integrity Toys Design Team, where many W Club member's questions were answered. Club members not attending had the chance to watch this session on video, which was great. Needless to say, the elephant in the room never got addressed.

An ancient Egyptian inspired Agnes? Yes please! The colours of the doll and outfit are a great match and the overall design is very regal - as it befits her. I am not crazy about her shoes - I’d rather have her wearing some gold sandals. I also would have preferred that her jewellery stones matched more the ones she has on her bustier, as that light blue one is kind of washed out compared to the rest. The bag is, appropriately, the Chanel Métiers d’Art Scarab clutch. The outfit looks a lot like stuff I was designing in the 90s, after I finished my fashion design and pattern making studies, as I was always inspired by the ancient Egyptian civilization.

Giselle could not not follow her big sister’s inspiration and take ancient Egyptian elements into account for her outfit, in a more youthful way of course. Contrary to Agnes though, the jewellery is not very Egyptian-like. I love the dress (which has the same décolleté embellishment as her sister’s), but the colour of the boots throws me off. Love the azure nail colour too! Would have preferred a shorter hair length, to be a little more ancient Egypt-like. Again the bag is a Chanel Métiers d'Art one, this time the Cheops bag. YSL had also made a pyramid bag.

Integrity Toys 2024 convention - Stilettos Out day 2: Poppy Parker luncheon

The country that attendees of the 2024 convention found themselves in on the 2nd day, according to the clues given to them, was"Switzerland" (the previous evening they were in Monaco). Participants of the Poppy Parker Luncheon found out that "Bird Of Prey" Poppy Parker, designed by David Buttry, was the event's centerpiece doll. During the event, two additional convention items were revealed for attendees to purchase, the "Drop Dead Gorgeous" Tulabelle True doll and the "Crack The Code" Spy Accessory Pack, also designed by David.Finally, attendees learned about their "Illusive Beauty" Poppy Parker giveaway doll, designed by David Buttry, along with the final accessory set for Donna Drake's "Cryptic Cases" gift set, designed by Alain Tremblay. Next stop was “Morocco” and the Fashion Bazaar, giving everyone a chance to purchase stuff from other attendees and also strut down the runway, showing off their modelling skills.

Beautiful Poppy doll, which compliments nicely the Après-Ski Asset Poppy that was available also for non attendee club members. I am not crazy about how the lower part of the jumpsuit looks, it seems frumpy even on promo photos. The inspiration is from an Yves Saint-Laurent look from his 1968 Spring/Summer collection.

After all the other convention Poppies, she feels a bit like a letdown. She is a bit bland and washed out, closer to Barbie then any Poppy we have seen so far - and what about the Action Accents Barbie set?. The jumpsuit (again!) colours help solidify this a lot. Emma Peel is of course a major inspiration for Poppy, as we have seen lots of times before here and here, with much better results.
