There was a surprise unveil during this week for W Club members: Chris Stoeckel presented the "Arrivederci Paris" Luciana Zadra™ Gift Set from East 59th Redux featuring a full wardrobe of three looks and a trunk packaging that all W Club members can pre-order. The box turns into a doll trunk and also makes a nice set of wardrobe plus make up table complete with mirror and stool. It reminded me of the Franklin Mint doll trunks (of which I have quite a few) in scale for 1/6 dolls. What a lovely idea!

The Story:
Luciana Zadra always had an independent streak-- and an insatiable love of fashion. As a young girl, she would sneak away from her family produce shop in Venice to explore the city, with a focus on anyone and anywhere that had quality garments and accessories. Her great beauty was admired by all, and she often came home with small gifts. First, it was a package of sweets, then it graduated to a bracelet or a scarf or even a wool coat as she charmed the shopkeepers and their patrons across the city with her big eyes and coquettish smile. She was bored by the time she was in her late teens and told her brother that she was going to leave for Paris. Santino Zadra was very protective of his little sister, but it was difficult for him to keep her under his watchful eye in Venice. That would become nearly impossible if Luciana made her way to Paris. But once she had her mind set on something, there was no turning back. “When are you going to return?” Santino inquired, his big brown eyes and furled brow showing concern. “I am afraid never,” Luciana said, not one to be sentimental. “I will always be with you in spirit. And maybe you can name a future daughter or granddaughter after me!” She winked and then embraced her brother, but not for too long. Santino knew he would never see his sister again. In a flash, Luciana was making her way to the City of Light, hoping that whatever she was searching for could be found there. Her time in Paris followed much the same pattern as her years in Venice. She joined a modeling agency, charmed everyone that she met, and found herself living a very luxurious life. But she was still bored; still yearning. Hearing that there was a demand for models with proper French training in New York City, she decided that she would set out by ship on a new adventure. She didn’t say many goodbyes. She packed her trunk full of her gorgeous couture wardrobe, got her French poodle situated and boarded the next ship to NYC. “I hope this is the place,” Luciana said in her head, in a mixture of Italian, French and English, yet understandable to her. She didn’t know where she belonged or what she wanted, but she wasn’t going to stop trying to find it.

I certainly was not expecting Isha/Luchia to join the Eat 59th coterie of characters - this sculpt has certainly been around a bit! After this first surprise, there was another: the doll will come in a box that is actually a doll trunk that turns into a “boudoir” set, with vanity table and stool, complete with mirror, hangers for her three full outfits, a place for her shoe boxes and a shelve for her hats. Would have been perfection if, instead of the blue/white combo of the decoration colours in the trunk, we got the grey/white Dior signature colours. The third surprise is that, not only she is in FR 6.0 body but she has the screening of a previous Isha iteration, Going North from the 2011 IFDC convention. And it is the exact same colours as that one! Chris said he was inspired by the two Dior exhibitions he saw in Paris this year (i am guessing he visited La Galerie at the old Dior HQ, which for me is a must for anyone remotely interested in fashion, plus the Azzedine Alaia Foundation Dior exhibit). You can definitely see the Dior elements in the three outfits. The whole set is quite beautiful and makes a full circle for Isha, as she had something similar 20 years ago with the Final Cut gift set (Hollywood for the dark haired one, which I want to own one day hopefully, Cannes for the blonde). So that is another reason for me to get this set. And it is a made-to-order set, so every member has a chance to own one. I think they should have made a single colour dog to be included and leave the blind box gimmicks aside.
For the East 59th body fans, here are some IRL photos Chris Stoeckel took to showcase how the Arrivederci Paris fashions look on the East 59th body as well, modeled by Victoire Roux. Please note that the shoes will not fit (as they are made to fit the larger FR 6.0 feet); the shoes shown below are from the East 59th collection, not the shoes included with this set.
Finally, you can see the doll from all sides in the video below:
