Integrity Toys Legendary 2020 Convention day 2: The Style Lab Collection

The second day begun with the presentation of the Style Lab collection around lunch time. The virtual convention site is accessible 24h and there are various chat rooms where attendees can talk to each other and also exchange private messages. Also, in the exhibition hall, there are virtual stands for each brand, where one can see videos of the dolls and chat with the respective designers at designated times. Style Lab this year was dedicated to Fashion Royalty, even though IT had said they’d never do that. Never say never! Vaughn Sawyers designed the collection, which had eight dolls sold nude, and eight outfits sold separately, plus two accessory packs. Also, each doll and outfit included a “build-the-doll” component (much like the 2018 Convention Style Lab Poppy. If one bought the entire collection, they could build a Vanessa Perrin doll with outfit! The dolls and outfits were again inspired by older legendary dolls of the company. I decided to present each doll with the outfit she is photographed in, even though they are sold separately. Each had an edition of 400. Dolls cost $60.00, outfits $75.00 and everything was sold out by the afternoon.

Integrity Toys 2018 reveal pt.4: Fashion Royalty - The Sacred Lotus collection

The last collection of the line up was Fashion Royalty. After last year's smashing La Femme collection, Jessy Ayala took the design reigns again and delivered a gorgeous collection, this time inspired by Bollywood. With Isha as the central character, the collection takes shapes, colours, textures and elements from Indian dress and translates them into modern clothes, mostly evening but with some daywear as well. Since La Femme was mostly daywear, it was only natural that evening attire would take centre place this time. The theme of returning characters continued with Kyori and Isha, who had been absent - Kyori for a couple of years, Isha since 2015. I love the collection as I am very fond of the Indian culture. Plus I have a special connection with India, having done two photo shoots with my dolls for Indian fashion magazines, which you can see here and here. The dolls are available through dealers except Vanessa, who will be an IT Direct lottery later in the year. Let's check out the dolls one by one.

What a gorgeous doll! This one opened the FR presentation and took my breath away. One of the best Tatyana versions ever, her screening gives a fresh look to the character (and golden fingernails!) while the outfit is simply amazing. It is probably inspired (cough) by a Spring 2013 Marchesa outfit (the original was shiny grey). The jewellery is totally indian while the bag and shoes complement the ensemble perfectly. Goddess indeed! She was preordered in the blink of an eye.

Aaaaand she's back! Missing since 2016 and her eye-decal version, Kyori makes a much anticipated return in the Fashion Royalty collection, with a daring Fall/Winteer 2017 Gaultier Couture inspired outfit. The asymmetrical outfit successfuly integrates Indian and couture influences (the tuxedo lapel versus the sari drape for example) and becomes more versatile by removing the bodysuit to transition from day to evening. She has the most discreet jewellery but the thigh-high boots more than make up for it. She does remind me slightly of Vice Kyori but she is the new sculpt and the colours do look lighter than the old ones. Vice was closer to Latina, this one is closer to Indian, but of course the styling and outfit make the difference. She's coming home too!

Resurgence indeed! What an impressive Natalia! Jessy said that Miranda Priestley from The Devil Wears Prada, was a partial inspiration for this one. I see Victoria Beckham too. The Gucci turban makes an appearance here, even though its real-life counterpart did raise lots of cultural appropriation complaints when it debuted in the Mens Fall/Winter 2018 collection. But that was mostly because it was shown on white models and because it was a copy of the Sikh turban. This one looks more african to my ignorant eyes. She's coming home!

Important Note: The jewel on Isha's nose is not-removable. Removing the jewel will damage the doll permanently and void the warranty.

I should be happy with Isha, but I'm not. I already have Style Notes from 2015 and she is much better than this version, minus the henna tattoos. Her outfit is the biggest culprit as it is white, which in India is the colour of mourning. No Bollywood star would ever wear white if she wasn't going to a funeral. It does not even have bridal connotations, as in India brides wear mainly red. The fact that it is inspired by a Marchesa 2013 dress does not help one bit, as it is in their usual shapeless overdecorated style, not even coming close to a recognizable Indian dress style. If you take away the jewellery, her styling and henna tattoos, she could be any western girl dressing up. What a missed opportunity and how remote from the glory that Age Of Opulence Isha was. I had high expectations it seems. And yes, those are oven mitts. Ugh.

What a mesmerising Vanessa 3.0 doll! After Vanessa 1.0 and 2.0 sculpts getting dark as ITBE editions, here is the newest sculpt in all its chocolate glory. She looks fantastic and is dresses in two gorgeous outfits that compliment her dark complexion perfectly. It's incredible that if no one mentioned what sculpt it was, it would be anyone's guess - or not? She's a lottery, with a higher edition than these things usually get, so fingers crossed. More information about that in late autumn. Her bag is a miniature version of Chloé Nile minaudière bag. The draped sash at the waist is just like the ones used by Haider Ackermann in his Spring 2018 collection. While her "daywear" ensemble with the coat and pants does not look very Indian, the cocktail dress definitely is.

Integrity Toys May 2015 release part 4: Fashion Royalty collection

The last line presented by Integrity Toys was none other than the battleship of the company, the Fashion Royalty line. This year Jason Wu wanted the design team to start with the ladies who lunch as an inspiration: the rich socialites of the 60s that met in the famous restaurants of the era and were very elegantly and minimally dressed during the day but went all out flamboyant at night. The collection comes out along those lines, with elegant and minimal day-wear, very chic and with a retro whiff, that also includes some more eccentric evening wear. Apart from characters picked from the core 8, the line up has Isha and Tatyana. Isha has not been in a normal collection for ages (since 2011 if I remember correctly) and Tatyana was last seen being part of the final FR2 collection. I liked this line so much I ended up pre-ordering five of the dolls.Let's see the dolls:

The only Isha I have in my collection is Something Cool from 2005. I was always on the look out for one but she was elusive or I was getting other, more coveted dolls and could not add her to the bunch. Now she comes home. She looks fantastic, very elegant and the dress is very detailed and looks so well executed. Her bag is also fantastic.  Isha comes dressed in a dark navy and cream sheath dress with black shirt collar detail, nude satin with black chiffon overlay inserts on the bodice and side seam pockets, cinched at the waist by a miniature designer belt. She completes her look with a cream coloured bag, black pumps, black painted gloves and earrings (an additional pair of flesh coloured hands is also included). A minimal looking Natalia - that's a first! I love the bolero. Remember the hat from the upgrade W Club Agnes? I passed on this one as I already have a latina skin toned Natalia with brown hair. She wears a sophisticated tweed cocoon sleeve crop jacket and pencil skirt combo with grey faux leather waistband. She completes her look with a grey and white checker crew neck bodysuit, topped off by a taupe straw cloche style hat and fuchsia faux leather purse and pumps. Although she is one beautiful Eugenia, I passed on this one as I already have a coral pink suit from the Truly Madly Deeply Agnes gift set and a red haired pony tailed Eugenia from the Première convention collection. Love the intricate ponytail wrap and her bag and shoes. These are the upgrade Agnes earrings too, the trademark of this collection. Eugenia is in a coral linen look suit with demi sleeve jacket and a chequered mock neck bodysuit. She completes her look with a maple rose straw cloche style hat, light caramel strappy pumps, and a cream leather and beige 'suede' hand bag. Includes large silver dangle earrings.  This is a winner - it seems that the success of the Edge Vanessa informs the look of this doll too - but in a totally different outfit. The mole reminds me of Cindy Crawford. Great outfit but I do not get the $10 price difference from the previous dolls - is it the coat? If so, why then is Shades of Grey Hanne at the same price level with the other dolls of her line? Vanessa wears a black and white belted glen check coat and a tone on tone glen check fitted skirt with black faux leather waistband and an anthracite demi sleeve satin shirt. She accessorizes her look with a light blue 'suede' handbag and black 'suede' strappy sandals. Also included are large frame sunglasses, earrings, and a bracelet. I was certain that Elise in this collection would be a red head. With the exception of the limited Montaigne Market, it has been a while since we had one and IT delivered. I really like her - both doll and outfit are gorgeous. The cut of the dress looks like the one Splendid Jordan was wearing a few years back. The bag looks like a Hermes Kelly miniature. Her lipstick shade might be a bit problematic with that red hair but we will see when she comes home. Again this one is $10 more expensive than the rest of the line. Elise is in a camel shawl neckline cocoon coat, black leather designer belt and printed cotton/spandex sheath dress. She accessorizes her look with a cream 'leather' bag, black pumps, caramel painted glove hands, gold earrings, a broach and a bracelet. Blond Kyoris are either gorgeous or totally indifferent to me. This one falls in the first category. i love the doll and the dress and her accessories are good too. Vaughn said that they search a lot to find the perfect fabric for the bag. She wears a plunging V neck sequinned dress that has a sateen modified wrap skirt with a faux belted detail. Did anyone scream Lupita when they saw her? She's totally inspired from the famous first Oscar red carpet appearance of actress Lupita Nyong'o in 2014 and is, for me, the second best incarnation of the Adele 3.0 sculpt (after Main Attitude in 2012). Ms. Makéda models a light blue gown composed of a satin bodice with asymmetrical waistline and a full tulle skirt in 3 shades of blue. This will be my second Tatyana doll - she's absolutely amazing. Totally different than her previous incarnations, looking like a cross between Elise and Dasha. Love her colouring and her dress is fantastic - if the production doll has the same draping it will be great. She could have had a more elaborate hair do though, I am getting bored with all the ponytails, especially in evening dressed dolls. Tatyana is in a navy blue faille gown with "caviar" beading detail on the bodice. She adds some edge to her look by wearing a dotted tulle veil, dotted lace gloves and black strappy pumps. ITBE 2015: new dolls announced from Integrity Toys

ITBE is the Integrity Toys Basic Edition line, their bottom price line of fashion dolls. They used to be totally different dolls than their mainline counterparts but, these last few years, they have developed in dolls usually created by mixing older sculpts and bodies of various IT lines. This year the line is made up of six basic lingerie dolls, all priced at $99 - a mark up from the $75 from last year. There's even one new sculpt among them, Finley Prince, who could either be one for the American Horror Story line (satanic smile) or the CI line (that name!). Each style has a limited edition of less then 500 dolls - a bit vague. Will they be 350 or 450? All are fully articulated vinyl dolls on the older FR tall body, with long,rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes. They are wearing detailed lingerie, stockings, high heeled shoes and they come with a doll stand. Remember these are for adult collectors ages 15 and up. They are only available to W Club members via a lottery for the right to buy. I did not like any one of these so much as to enter the lottery (their make up is mostly garish), so wallet is safe this time. Let's see the new ladies.

New ITBE Basic Edition dolls from Integriy: Fashion Royalty disguised!

The second email about the last dolls to be released for 2013 by Integrity Toys was about a new ITBE (Integrity Toys Basic Edition) doll collection. Imagine how surprised everyone was upon seeing that now two of these dolls will feature the FR tall articulated body (the third has the Monogram one) and characters from the Fashion Royalty family: this time it is Adele's 2nd sculpt, Isha (looking more like the former Luchia doll because of the skintone) and Natalia (the tweaked original sculpt, or Natalia 1.5 as IT calls it). All three dolls unveiled in this email are IT Direct Exclusive products which will be offered via a "right to buy" lottery approximately in January 2014. The lottery information for these dolls will be sent after the new year to both 2014 W Club members and members of the general public. The dolls were first unveiled during the IT convention this fall.

The dress has the same cut as the one that Ready To Dare Natalia had (a W Club upgrade doll). The colouring reminds me of Style Mantra Eden but also of amazing Christina Hendricks as Joan Holloway in Mad Men.

This is the doll with the Monogram body (and a fashion taken off Jason Wu's S/S 2014 collection). She comes dressed in a high contrast pleated dress delicately cinched at the waist by a tiny "pleather" belt and includes shoes and a doll stand. Fully articulated doll with rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. For adult collectors ages 14 and up. I love this version of Natalia too. It will definitely be hard to get any one of these dolls as the edition size is really small (300 dolls each) and there will be a lottery process available to all. I predict high secondary market prices afterwards. Sigh.
