I always wanted to get the original Avenue George V Victoire (and cannot remember what happened with the lottery back then) and now I get a chance. She is not an exact copy but comes really close to the original doll, so it is indeed a great opportunity for Victoire fans to get their hands on her - and the original sculpt making an appearance too! GMColl Studio released their first ever made-to-order doll: Celebration Allegra Orsini

GMColl Studio is the project of two very talented and creative people: Gloria and Bertan. Gloria is well know in the fashion doll world with her OOAK briliant work and she teamed up with Bertan to create and run GMColl Studio, a new line of fashion dolls that had already caused quite a commotion as limited run offers of only heads and fashion sets before the label launched. It now has a member club and the members get first dibs at new releases. As Allegra stepped onto the red carpet of the agency’s opening celebration, the flashing lights suddenly pulled her back — To the day she shot Faces of Today with the girls. Just as she was about to leave the studio, a quiet commotion turned her attention. Standing there—commanding, unmistakable—was Davinia Orsini. A legend. The head of the Orsini family. The force behind a fashion empire. “I’ve been thinking about starting a modeling agency,” Davinia said, her voice calm yet electric. “I heard you were shooting today… I wanted to see my baby—and the girls—for myself.” Then, with a smile full of certainty: “You were absolutely wonderful, cuore mio. I think it’s time to make this real. You girls are going to become the talk of everyone. It’s time to bring the era of supermodels back to the present.” The sound of cameras snapped Allegra back to now. And in that moment, she understood — The Faces of Today are destined to shape the agency of tomorrow.*

As I mentioned in the first paragraph, I waited a bit to get my first GMColl Studio doll. It is not that the previous members-only releases were not beautiful, it is just that they were not to my taste exactly. So I bid my time and here she is. She’s a new sculpt for Allegra (the original, a gorgeous Donatella lookalike is this one), which does not mean that the old one is retired. I will risk a guess and say that the old one might be used as her mother, as it looks more mature and chiselled than this new iteration. She has a lovely neutral screening, beautiful brunette hair and she looks fab. Her gown follows her screening colour scheme and it looks nice without it being a revelation - I do notice the zipper (good) is a bit large for the scale (bad). Her matching shoes have bows at the back and I love it. Her bag is made of the same material as the dress, so it is a total monochromatic look. And the price is amazing. Cannot wait to receive her!

The 4th W Club doll for 2025 is a merman: Triton Thiago Valente!

Since the release of the mermaid Sirène club doll, people have been speculating about the next such doll. And here it is: the fourth W Club Exclusive doll of the 2025 membership year is a gift set, designed again by Jessy Ayala. The Story:

One thing that Agnes von Weiss had always excelled at was taking inspiration from (and credit for!) someone else’s ideas. Now that the AvW lifestyle brand was in full swing, her “inspirational” forces were running high. She had been vexed by the success of W Cosmetics’ Sirène campaign. So, when it was time for AvW to release its new cologne, Agnes came up with an “idea”… “I think we should do a mermaid!” Agnes exclaimed in the staff meeting. Lilith, who had been splitting her time between modeling and her ever-increasing influencer and PR job at AvW, kindly mentioned that W had recently done a mermaid campaign. Agnes cut her off. “Not a mermaid -- a mer-man!” Agnes said, making it seem like it was obvious she had thought of something completely different. Despite its origins, Lilith didn’t hate the idea. And she had the perfect model in mind -- her friend, Thiago Valente. Thiago was handsome and built; he had an appeal that reached both men and women. Plus, he would do anything if the price was right. And he never put up a fuss. He would be a great face for AvW! Then, she had another idea -- what if they packaged the cologne to look like a message in a bottle, just like the prop for the photoshoot? "You're a genius!" Agnes exclaimed. They made the photoshoot into a big spectacle near the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. It drew all kinds of onlookers who stopped their day to catch a glimpse of this perfect merman. The crowds and the staff fawned over Thiago, who flirted back with literally everyone. The results were perfection. Thiago and the stunt created a big “splash” for AvW, with so much buzz brewing that he was starting to get mobbed everywhere he went. The campaign put AvW on a new level. And Thiago was now the season’s “it” guy. Agnes was thrilled. Lilith was thrilled. Agnes’s investors, including billionaire Alexandre Beaumont-Durand, were thrilled. There was one person who was not thrilled though -- Véronique Perrin. She called an emergency meeting of the W Cosmetics staff. As I had mentioned when reviewing Violaine Sirène, mermaid dolls are not really my cup of tea. They look beautiful and fun, but I collect mainly high fashion dolls, and any “fantasy” dolls I own are quite adjacent to that realm. So cutie Thiago will not make a dent to my doll budget this time. Even his non-mermaid outfit is beach bum territory. His hairstyle limits his versatility to redress and restyle. So, once again, I am happy for those of you that were expecting such a doll but no, thanks.

The Story:

As soon as Della Roux learned that she and the other beauties of the East 59th Agency had been chosen as the muses of the very first Metamorphosis Ball, she could hardly contain herself. She rushed to place an overseas long-distance call to Paris. “Victoire! Get on the next flight to New York, we’ve been selected to model at the event of the year!” The news spread quickly. Before long, electricity crackled through the styling room as the chosen models buzzed with excitement, speculating eagerly about who would be wearing whom. In the weeks leading up to this daring new venture, one that promised to become one of the most artistic and transformative visions of fashion ever realized in a single evening, the most beautiful ladies of the time were put through exhaustive fittings, creative explorations, and intensive styling sessions. It showed. The elevated look worn by the stunning Della Roux alone graced numerous magazine covers in the months that followed, while celebrities were soon spotted wearing one adaptation or another at movie premieres and red-carpet events. The concept of “adaptable” or “modulable” fashion introduced at the Ball became an immediate sensation, embraced for both its ingenuity and versatility. Instead of the usual extras included with East 59th dolls (drinks, luggage, make up, cigarettes etc.), each doll in this collection includes a different ornate doll-sized standing vintage-look "mirror" accessory that really reflects. The mirror part is reflective acetate as said during the presentation, while the frame seems to be just print and cut cardboard. The whole thing has the style of support that picture frames have. And they are true to scale. Della looks lovely here, except that pinkish lipstick that throws me off her entire look. I love her elegant hairstyle. Her gown, with its various transformations, looks like it could be part of the court at Versailles, with its ornate embroidery and texture. Love her jewellery too. I’m on the fence about ordering her. Luckily we have a lot of time to think about this.

The Story:

True to herself, the moment she appeared at the height of the boarding steps of the majestic 707 that had carried top model Victoire Roux back to the Big Apple, the press went wild. Who was she wearing today? Why had she returned from Paris? Which magazine cover would feature her next? And (of course), was it true that she was in love? The questions bored Victoire to death, but she knew she had to play the fame game, even as she longed to escape to the studio and learn more about the intriguing new Metamorphosis Ball she had been chosen to star in as a muse. Still, as she pushed her way through the most persistent reporters, something caught her eye. There, waiting on the tarmac, stood her friend Laird Drake beside one of the most beautiful town cars she had ever seen. She took it as a sign. Another beautiful Victoire as a redhead. Chris said during the presentation that Victoire is a redhead in his mind, and I could not agree more. Her make up is more subdued here but elegant. Her gown is more geometric and asymmetrical. The embroidery, as Chris said, helps keep the shape of the skirt. While beautiful, I think this is the doll I like the least from this collection. She also reminds me a lot of the early Victoire dolls (with the first sculpt).

When the ultra-sophisticated socialite Lady Aurelia Grey received the invitation to be the Guest of Honor at the Metamorphosis Ball, hand-delivered by none other than Laird Drake himself, she was delighted. She was deeply moved to learn that her tireless philanthropic work with sick children across the country was being celebrated by her peers. Almost immediately, one question rose above all others: what would she wear? The concept of the Ball was unlike anything before it, how could she possibly do the theme justice? With innovation, elegance, and just a whisper of romance; qualities she had mastered to perfection. The look she ultimately chose was rich and luxurious, and her appearance on the red carpet caused an instant commotion. Fashion editors took note at once, captivated by the sumptuous tones of the brocade and "fur" ensemble she had selected. Aurora, like Della, has a gown that could very well appear at a ball in Versailles. The doll looks great, albeit a bit austere. I would prefer her in darker hair. The embroidered fabric is sumptuous and the voluminous skirt has a draping that will have to be seen in production dolls to help one make up their mind. She has the least impressive jewellery of the bunch - they could have included a bracelet and/or a brooch for the fur shrug.

The Story:

Poised, demure, elegant; these were the words most often used by industry insiders and devoted admirers alike to describe the elusive beauty of Evelyn Weaverton. Very little was known about the model herself, yet every appearance made an impact, every magazine cover further cementing her iconic, timeless image. The organizers of the Metamorphosis Ball had only one thing in mind when they requested, no, insisted, that she be present: Evelyn Weaverton would be the central focus of the publicity campaign for the most anticipated affair of the season. Their instinct proved flawless. Each glamorous version of the event’s advertisements, which seemed to blanket every square inch of the city and showcased the many ways her look could be worn, became a visual tour de force. By the following season, fashion houses across the nation were offering their own interpretations of the designs, clearly inspired by her imagery. I think Evelyn is the MVP of the bunch. Both the doll and the outfit are fantastic and look amazing in every variation. The colours, make up, hairstyle, embroidery, fabrics and cut, all combine to give a masterclass in fashion design and styling. The only thing I might have changed would be her hard metal choker - into a more period fitting pearl rows and diamond clasp one (see the evening section), and match the rest of the jewellery accordingly. The whole outfit brings to mind a similarly coloured one (asymmetrical too) worn by Gene Marshall doll. Sublime.

Dolly Days by Integrity Toys - Day 1

Dolly Days are a popular institutions one could say - collectors eagerly await the series of IT releases during a few days in January each year, usually consisting of a chance to buy doll bodies and accessories, exclusive club dolls or mini collection reveals.

This year is no different and the first day sends us the chance to get a doll trunk, similar to the one for Poppy Parker released during the Sweet 16 event, but for taller dolls like FR and NU Face.

It seems that the Poppy trunk was so popular, IT decided to make one for their other dolls as well. It will not hold the male dolls, which are considerably taller, but all the rest will fit nicely inside this case, along with some of their outfits and accessories. I will be ordering one! Cannot wait for the rest of the reveals in the next few days.
