The Integrity Toys 2025 Online Event: le Cirque Cabaret - Entertainment Tent and Concession Stand

The second presentation of the day was a workshop by the dear and very talented Salvator Lopez Arriaga: Presto, Change-o! where he showed us how to style our dolls’ hair into three different styles: a hair top bun, the bumped ponytail look many Poppies have and the middle part/under the sides look (see the original Alejandra Luna for an example). During the workshop, he also taught us various tricks about doll hair styling, and it was really nice and quite fun. Then The third presentation begun, with the lovely and very talented Chris Stoeckel, who sported a nice bowler hat with veil, to fit the occasion! He designed two dolls for this event, one of them along with the 2nd designer in residence at Integrity Toys, the brilliant Anj Calvo! Both dolls look amazing! But we also got three doll fashion packs and a bag pack, under the concession stand guise. Alain showed us the packaging for the event dolls, which looks amazing. So we now know that the Clairvoyante Rayna booth is an bonus gift with the doll and not the doll box. Both dolls, the bag set and all outfits except the tattoo one (pre-order) are via lottery for club members. This is the part that had some misfires in the outfits but also two brilliant dolls and those amazing bags. Still, all entertaining, great presentations and very coherent and lush. This event definitely has a convention feel.

What a glorious Victoire! Chris always nails it in convention dolls and this time is no exception. The doll is very beautiful with her red hair and Japan skin tone, with sultry make up and windswept Hollywood diva hairstyle. With her va-va-voom corset and styling she has Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge vibes - we finally get a bit of the Cabaret from the event theme. She’s supposed to represent the extremely narrow waisted ladies appearing in freak shows that usually accompanied circuses as sideshows. Thankfully she’s all glamour and no freak. La Femme Sablier literally means The Hourglass Woman. And her accessories are also amazing: the tiny hat (which is fixed on her hair with a small comb), the pointed earrings that cuff her ears, the neck corset, the boots… Want her!

Aurelia looks so regal and impressive in this iteration - and how could she not be with that incredible coat she’s wearing? Inspired by the fashions of the 20s - 30s and the blues/jazz singers of the same era, Chris and Anj have done a fantastic job. if you want to get a feel of that era of fashion and the Art Deco inspirations, check the MET museum’s collections - for Paul Poiret, Jeanne Lanvin and Jeanne Paquin. And Jeanne Lanvin did a dress that has some Art Deco motifs reminiscent of the ones on the coat and Poiret did a coat in these colours and tassels. They also remind me of another Art Deco era masterpiece, the Chrysler building. I think all three designers would have loved this look. Absolutely brilliant. Chris said she has a new screening and she’s in the FR6 body to have a more elongated silhouette. Yes, the microphone is included. Want her!

The bearded lady was a fixture of 19th century circuses in their sideshows, so Chris translated that well into this Victorian inspired outfit with a jewelled mask substituting for the beard. It looks great apart from the bustle, which, in the photos at least, does not look well executed. Look for example at this Roberto Cavalli dress or this Patou by Lacroix dress. I think it needed a bit more oomph. Otherwise it is lovely. I love when they show the fashions on already released dolls.

The lady with the poodles used to be one of the main circus attractions, although the dogs in question used to be smaller, in order to successfully perform all the tricks and gymnastics she put them through. This is a lovely dog though and I hope we can see it in a future release again. The looks is somewhere between an Edwardian circus acrobat and a fairy tale prince in a ballet - take your pick. Love the bag, pity it does not open.

While Jessy is firmly within the concept, I keep not liking what he does for it. Fashion has always been fascinated by tattoos, so it is no surprise something like this appears, given the opportunity. But a tattoo is meant to be on a body and the outfits should have been something fully closer to it and maybe transparent. Examples are the famous tattoo prints by Jean Paul Gaultier. Cute bag. The doll is a customized Clownesque doll by Jessy. The gloves and boots look like they are made of skin, yuck. And those heels look very fragile.

Integrity Toys 2024 convention - Stilettos Out day 1: The convention collection and welcome doll

This year, Integrity Toys decided that it was about time they returned to an in-person convention, instead of the virtual online events they organized from 2020 onward, because of the pandemic. It sold out as is always the case with the IT events. They did a rehearsal last year with the Curated event (which was sold out as well but it left much to be desired in the organization department). So you can imagine that all club members, even the ones not attending, held their breath waiting for the event to start.

And then the unexpected happened: attendees received an email, about a week from the event, that the dolls for the convention had not arrived and would not be at the hotel, due to a combination of port workers three-day strike, the repeated hurricanes striking US east coast etc. Instead, attendees would have to make do with the prototype dolls on display, a QR code system to place their orders on-site. The dolls would ship to the attendees homes after the event and the company would supply gift cards as credit for the shipping costs. The furore of the club members was such (plus pointing out a clause in the terms and conditions of the convention ticket that specified free shipping in case the dolls were not delivered at the event), that IT had to change course and give real free shipping to all attendees. Of course those attending that come outside the US still have to pay taxes /custom duties when dolls are shipped to them instead of travelling back in their suitcase, and that is quite an extra cost to shoulder. The overall tone of the email did not help, as it was far from apologetic and more like “oops! we had an accident, no biggie”. The fact that the company waits until the very last week before an event to receive their merchandise for it shows poor planning. Even people like me, outside the US, knew about the hurricane season troubles, even the planned port workers strike. Also, since the pandemic, shipping keeps having serious problems with being on time (not that it did not have any before, but…), so it is always prudent to plan ahead of time. Anyway, let’s hope that all this will be seriously addressed at some point in the convention, directly from IT to their loyal, hard cash earned paying customers face to face.

So, on with the show - what is the Stilettos Out story all about? As per the club email:

Many highly sought-after, ultra-rare artefacts have disappeared all over the world and no one, not even the savviest, most fashionable detectives from the the SSB (Secret Style Bureau) and other covert agencies like FPI (Fashion Police International) have been able to figure out how these seemingly disconnected items are related! This year’s convention attendees were invited to participate in this intriguing mystery, tasked to help fictional true crime podcaster/blogger Donna Drake collect clues that will ultimately solve this decades-old cold case!

On the first day of the event, attendees arrived for registration (with early registration taking place on the previous day) and received their welcome bag, which included a mysterious dossier with some clues, and also learned they were getting a Welcome Gift Set, seeing the first part, the "Cryptic Cases" Imogen Lennox as Donna Drake doll, to be completed with more clothes and accessories during the event. The whole thing is part of the clue searching, as she’s the investigating agent all attendees must help uncover the mystery. Below, you can see the Welcome Gift Set doll as well as the Convention Collection dolls, available for attendees at the Souvenir Shop along with the NU. Poppy Parker plays Leia Organa in Star Wars: The Fashion Movie! Her braided hairstyle, apart from the famous film icon, reminds me of the Tokyo Twilight Poppy. She has the Spicy in Spain screening. Do you remember the Style Lab 2018 convention collection? It was named Miss behave and had a build-a-doll Poppy Parker doll as gift if you had all the collection bought (her pieces were hidden inside the other doll/outfit boxes). Her outfit is very 60s era space age looks, like the ones made by Courrèges and Cardin.

A new version of Tate Tanaka is always good news. When I first saw online photos of this guy from the convention (the prototype doll displayed there), I was instantly smitten. After a while though I noticed two things that made me go hmmm - his bland screening and his huge forehead. When you name a character Raven, you should go that little bit towards the goth connotations, no? Some eyeliner, a stronger brow. The suit is kind of tame, if you take out the boots and leather cummerbund, but I like its texture, like a deconstructed tweed.

Who is the mysterious character embodied by Elyse? Do not google it, you’re in for a great laugh (or not, depending on your situation). Don;t they google the perspective names of characters before they trademark them? LOL. Anyway, she’s a gorgeous doll, with an amazing gown and quite an original screening for Elyse. it shows what you can do if you step, even just a bit, out of the so-called box. Great work Alain (he designed Imogen too). Having said that, she has very minimal accessories - and why aren’t the shoes photographed with the rest of them? She needed at least a bracelet and a ring.

A new East 59th Collection of four dolls was unveiled two days ago, designed of course by Chris Stoeckel. It is named The Four Seasons Collection and the concept is that each East 59th doll is doing a glamorous ad campaign for a top clothing company, having four looks representing the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Despite the new screening, this Constance reminds me a lot of the first one. After all, Chris says it is based on the first one for inspiration. I’m not in love with the print of the dress (and matching coat lining) but love the colour combination of blue and yellow. She has shopping bags as accessories, and an umbrella, which sadly is not functioning. Wonder how many more people would go for her if her umbrella could open.

 She’s the one I coveted from this collection. I like her look, both doll and outfit. But the real attraction is the picnic set in a wicker hamper, which is something we have not seen before at IT and looks amazing. The wicker matching purse is the cherry on top. First time with a forward eye screening for Della, yet she still looks a lot like before to me. I’m not crazy about her blonde hair/blue eyes combo, she always looks so much better in darker colouring. Just imagine her in a dark brown bubble cut with brown eyes. Her outfit is very chic, with that lovely hat and bag, and her design portfolio suits it just fine. Pity her jewellery is very basic.

Victoire is dressed for winter and has a dog as well! The fabric print looks great but I think she would look even better if it was in shades of emerald green to contrast her red hair. Would have also preferred some fur trim on the collar, hat and gloves (and she could come without the dog and flowers to offset the cost). Lovely jewellery and bag. The new screening has different eyebrows and looks a bit more sultry. The Winds of Winter is so Game Of Thrones!

Dolly Days - Day Two: The Weekend In The Poconos is the new East 59th collection!

Dolly-Days Day 2 was, much like in previous years, the day of the unveiling of the new East 59th Collection, designed by the amazing Chris Stoeckel. The collection is called The Weekend In The Poconos. Poconos was a famous resort destination in the 1950s and the concept is that some of the East 59th characters spend a weekend relaxing there. So it’s a collection of mix-and-match sportswear and matching luggage.

Three of the four dolls will be available via Integrity Toys' authorized dealers, while Laird Drake is an IT Direct item and will only be available via a right-to-buy lottery.

A redhead version of Cora - this makes her now available in three basic hair colours: blonde, black and redhead - next one should be a brunette. I love the outfit, sporty but chic and elegant, in a way that only the 1950s could. She has a suitcase and each doll has a different luggage item, so all four make a complete luggage collection. Otherwise, her accessories are minimal, which didn’t use to be the case with this line. The good thing is that she comes with extra high heeled legs, in case she has to attend a cocktail party later on. I’d get her if I had a bigger budget - all three ladies ship mid February, so it is quite fast.

Evelyn is always impressive and this appearance is no exception, even if she’s in the sportiest we have ever seen her so far - in a very 1950s way of course. Dashing Laird makes an appearance very quickly after his previous one, if you consider that it took years to make his second. Again a lottery doll (all the ladies are dealer dolls), with a limited edition of 600, it will be a bloodbath. I love his look and the colouring of it all - he looks smashing. He has a suitcase and a fedora hat, although I’d rather see him in a cap for a weekend in a resort. Come to think of it though, it is the first fedora that appears in the line, and it was about time for the guys, as it was the ubiquitous man’s hat back then. I entered the lottery, as he will be arriving mid to late March, which helps with better payment scheduling.

In case you did not notice, the collection is so coherent stylisticaly and visually, that the ladies can exchange pieces anytime - Chris Stoeckel took some photos to show it off. And you can also check a video of the dolls.

Integrity Toys online event 2023: 7 sins

Another year that Integrity Toys held an online event in place of an actual, in person convention: called 7 Sins, it gave us seven new dolls, all available only to W Club members through right-to-buy lotteries. The dolls belong to various lines from the IT line-up: East 59th, Poppy Parker, Nu Face, Fashion Royalty and Monarchs Homme. Poppy Parker and FR had two dolls each, while the rest of the lines had one. Integrity Toys decided to have all their designers and Percy Newsom, their CEO, meet in Las Vegas with Carol Roth. The City of Sins seems a fitting place for this theme - just imagine it being an actual convention there. But fear no more - at the last moments of the online event, Percy announced that the company will hold their first in person convention for 2024, no more details given. There were two separate videos presenting the dolls, with Carol welcoming each designer to talk about them. The quality of the videos was not very professional, and some of the gimmicks made people look and act awkward but by the end of it they seemed to have fun. Which is always good when you’re working. A game was also held, giving rewards to people who participated in an online IT contest. The collection overall is strong, on a par with the Curated event earlier this year. Another Della that looks like all previous Dellas a lot, just changing hairstyle and outfit. I love this hairdo, it gives her the look of a 50s silver screen legend, but not enough to justify the cost. And I do not want any more lingerie ensembles in my collection, I already have tons. As for the sin she’s representing, lust=lingerie is a bit expected, no? Just think of her in a slinky semi transparent sequinned floor length sheath with a thigh-high slit up her leg and a dawn feather coat a la Dietrich.

I am always partial to anything green, so this Poppy would have been right up my alley if: a) I did not intensely dislike this hairdo and b) did not have a limited budget. That’s a Barbie Poppy if I’ve ever seen one! Blonde and dressed in pink, with lots of goodie bags to signify greed (and to drive home the point even more, look at those logos on them), she’s like a reincarnation of Margot Robbie if she ever decides to do “Poppy Parker: The Movie”. Not very exciting apart from that, in contrast to her envious twin. The beauty mark is a lovely touch. Does the texture of her suit remind anyone of paper towels?

Best doll of the bunch alongside the following one, Erin is smashing it here. I am not that crazy about pink hair (pink and wrath don’t match that well) but it goes well with the overall punk aesthetic - Vivienne Westwood meets Alexander McQueen on Barbie. Also notice in the photo above that she has an undercut, like a punk girl would. She also reminds me a lot of the Royal Life 2007 convention dolls, especially Odd girl Out Colette Duranger - is this another Moment for Nu Face and Jessy? Is the paper bag clutch a trick or treat reference?

Isabella with a mirror to show vanity - plus her “mirrored” outfit. Instead of reusing the same mirror that Nadja had in the Heirloom collection, maybe it could have been an actual mirror bag like the Lady Dior one by Frederic Leclere, instead of the transparent one she actually comes with (see below). That might have also justified the $180 price tag (ouch!), because the dress and accessories don’t. By the way the dress is the custom Vera Wang outfit that Zendaya rocked at the 2021 CFDA Awards. Love the intricate hair do - may be that is the reason for the pricing? Overall nice but not $180 nice.

Wow! Maybe best doll of the event, this Dania is amazing, The dress is very Balenciaga (both old and new) and it is the gift that keeps on giving, with three distinct looks created from it, depending on the pieces attached or not. The doll is breathtakingly beautiful, with her sleek up-do and great make up. My only complaint is that I would have prefered black velvet opera gloves and a shiny metallic clutch to finish the look. A miniature fan would have also looked good with this. Love that choker. We have seen the spider as a choker before but I do not get how it connects with gluttony. Which otherwise is shown with the dress ever growing volumes as Jessy said during the presentation.

Very interesting outfit - if my budget allowed it I would enter for this. Its inspiration is from look 23 in the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2022/23 collection, (even the bag) but would have preferred the outfit to look closer to the original one. Nice fashion outfit for Poppy. Not crazy about the tulle coat and the fit of the dress on her body around her belly looks wrong - the tulip shape in this scale is problematic with fabrics like this. Maybe it is something that can be taken care of in styling, as it looks ok when not on the doll (see below). Despite the horns on the clutch, she looks more Christmas-y than devilish. Love her jewellery. The doll is Sizzling in Paris Poppy Parker with a slightly different hairstyle- David said it was an option they considered when designing the doll.

Nice shoe pack for the FR and NU Face ladies. We have seen some of these on dressed dolls before (the pair below looks a lot like one of NAP Aymeline’s but with two buttons), but I know there can never be enough shoes for our dolls, no?

Nice pack of Poppy Parker shoes - especially the orange, green and red ones. It would have looked even better if they all came in miniature shoe boxes in shopping bags instead of the usual box they come in.
