Pink of Perfection is the 15th anniversary Poppy Parker doll!

You’d have to live under a rock to miss the fact that 2024 is the 15th anniversary of Poppy Parker. Who would have thought, back in 2009, that the then new doll would become the juggernaut she is today, dominating the releases and sales of Integrity Toys, and making David Buttry a very happy doll designer! Poppy has been travelling all over the world, making friends along the way, been in a relationship, on mystery dates, on amazing fashion shoots, in films and TV shows - you name it, she’s done it! And of course there would be a special anniversary doll to commemorate Poppy Parker's 15th, exlusive to W Club members.

I was expecting a bit more fanfare for this anniversary - just think that on the 5th anniversary there was also an IFDC collection alongside the club doll, plus the convention Poppy dolls which we will see quite soon.

When Poppy arrived at the door as a vision in pink to the sounds of all her friends and family shouting "Surprise" in unison, she was so touched that she turned perfectly pink herself and collapsed into the arms of Chip! He stayed at her side for the whole party to make sure she was okay, much to the dismay of Ginger! - Designed by David Buttry

She’s a gorgeous doll. I love the strong dark eyebrows and eyeliner contrasting the light pink lipstick but would have preferred it on a cream skintone to better suit the pink tones of everything else. The hairstyle compliments the dress perfectly, and is suitable for her young age - an older woman would probably have an up-do with such a look back in those days. The dress is a Dior Spring 1956 haute couture gown named “Danse”. All its photos online are b&w, so I have no idea what colour was the original dress. I would probably have liked it a bit more in a different colour - the 5th anniversary Poppy wore pink, the 10th black, so we could have had light blue or green or even a bold fiery red! The new Meteor collection is a collaboration: Integrity Toys x Jason Kramer Designs!

Through a video presentation, Integrity Toys and the W Club unveiled a brand new Integrity Toys X Jason Kramer Designs collaboration. We knew that we would be seeing such a collaboration for this line soon, but now with which designer it would be. it was a welcome surprise as Jason is not only a great person but a very talented designer as well - we have already seen his work before on IT releases, one of them recently for Poppy Parker. For those who just discovered Jason, here is a brief bio:

Jason Kramer is a freelance costume designer and illustrator, living in Ashland, Oregon. He's been collecting and designing for fashion dolls since 2002. His favorite designers include Alexander McQueen, Valentino, and Jean-Paul Gaultier, among others.

The four dolls (two of them combined into a gift set) will be sold through a W Club lottery. Judging by the reactions during the presentation and social media, there will not be any left!

I have never warmed up to Navia, no matter the styling or style she was released with. She mostly looked cartoon-y and half-finished to me - until now. Dialling the oomph factor up by 100%, Jason managed to make her sultry and fierce, without looking cartoon-y. The dress is hot (the red colour he picked is no accident) and the accessories compliment it perfectly. And that sharp geometric bob is perfection. Anna W asked for the hair stylist’s name.

Zuri is probably my favourite sculpt of the Meteor line and especially when they paint her with a gap tooth - which here she has again. Add to that the distinctly inspired by her African roots look and you get a winner. What a fantastic doll. The sheer amount of jewellery makes her a moving target! Can you not love the lip-shaped bag? Dali’s surrealist Mae West sofa and Lulu Guiness’ clutch came instantly to mind.

Isn’t this a fabulous pair? A star and her stylist.I’m not a big fan of salmon pink - too many bad 80s memories - but Jason has managed to make it work here, combined with her aquamarine accessories and jewellery. As for the doll, Taliya here reminds me a bit of the Italian diva Mina in her youth (check the Balenicaga-Mina collab coming up). Kieron is fierce - both the doll and the outfit are out of this world. Maybe I would have done his eyes a bit more smokey, to enhance his look. Absolute perfection.

Poppy goes disco: The 2nd W CLub doll for 2024 is Star Muse Poppy Parker!

The 2nd W Club Exclusive doll of the 2024 membership year was revealed to members at the end of August: "Star Muse" Poppy Parker, designed by David Buttry, exclusively for W Club members, arrives not long after the first club doll of the year. The surprise is that she’s not in her regular era style (either late 50s-early 60s or mod 60s), not even her Charlie Angels 70s style. But more on that later on. Let’s check out the doll first.

As I mentioned above, Poppy is in a quite different era than we have seen so far. She’s veering towards end of the 70s/very early 80s era. She looks like a modern interpretation of Olivia Newton-John in Xanadu, ready to sing Magic while rolling around the club dancefloor. The hairstyle with the ribbon certainly alludes to that film, as well as the rollers and the general disco/bubblegum aesthetic. She also pulls from other stars of the era but has more modern influences as well. The star is a direct nod to the upgrade Ultraviolet Poppy. The screening is from Tears Go By.

The most surprising thing about this doll is the price point. She’s the same price as the When In Paris Poppy, but that one had two complete outfits, also both pairs of legs and many more accessories than this one. And it was only months ago, so inflation and other excuses don’t cut it. The roller skates are not that expensive online ($20-$30) so what’s up Integrity? The clothes are not even that detailed to make up for any part of the cost. If she had an additional dress similar to those worn in Xanadu by Olivia, she’d be perfect and much sought after. I am getting her, but only because of the Olivia connection (thin as it is) and nothing more. Below is the video of the rotating doll.

As is the case for the last few years, the 1st W Club Exclusive doll of the 2024 membership year was revealed in the beginning of August, via e-mail to members. The story:

In the heart of Paris, one NU. Face agency's top model and influencer; Imogen Lennox; is stepping back into the limelight with a fresh project: launching "Wonderland", a new makeup brand created in collaboration with W Cosmetics and inspired by the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland! The brand’s signature colour is baby blue, and Imogen is dressed by the stylists to embody its spirit with a touch of sparkle and flawless makeup to add some modernity to the campaign.

Accompanied by her playful kitten, Blue, Imogen prepared for the grand publicity campaign under the watchful eye of her new collaborator, Véronique Perrin. The studio had been transformed into a magical wonderland, filled with oversized tea cups and pastel lights.

As the photo shoot began, Imogen’s graceful poses and Blue’s spontaneous antics captured the enchanting essence of Wonderland. The resulting images were nothing short of magical, perfectly reflecting the brand’s dreamlike quality.

At the end of the day, Véronique and Imogen admired the stunning photos. “You and Blue brought Wonderland to life,” Véronique said, beaming with pride. Imogen smiled, holding baby Blue close. Seeing Imogen as the first W Club doll of the year was a great and welcome surprise. Seeing her being so incredibly beautiful and smashing was even better. I love everything about her, from her new screening with the larger eyes, her awesome hairstyle (which reminds me of Sandy in Grease, if it took place ten years later) and her outfit. Consisting of a multitude of pieces, it not only looks cool and amazing, it also gives you many different combinations. The flower sequins look the same as those on the Hippie Dippy Poppy dress. Did I mention that the bow has a magnet for attaching it however and wherever you like? The chubby faux fur coat? The kitten (which is a very early prototype)? Jessy said he was inspired by Alice in Wonderland, hence the colours and the kitten and the Mary Janes. And it is the 60s through the 90s through now. The club sleuths quickly figured out the real fashion world outfit inspiration: Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2022. And how about her face? We can see echoes of the first ever Giselle (Costume Drama), the Style Lab Fashion Fairy-tale Tulabelle (wearing an Alice in Wonderland outfit), And from real people, she looks a lot like a young Cameron Diaz or even Florence Henderson (and yes Florence could pass as Cameron’s mum).

The accessories are also amazing. We get both high heeled and flat feet, to go with the thigh high boots and the Mary Jane shoes. The silver elongated bag is fantastic and looks inspired by the Miu Miu Arcadie bag. Love the round sunglasses. Plenty of jewellery to pile on, with many bracelets and two pairs of earrings, plus two rings. I could not press the pre-order button fast enough. I have loved Imogen from her very first appearance (and still kick myself for not getting that one but there were so many dolls released at the same time it was impossible), so it was a no-brainer. See below a video of the rotating doll. There was mention of the doll having retouched eyes in the photos and indeed they do look tampered with 0 but check the video to see her real eyes. I guess they did not look exactly as planned, even though they do look great in the video - to my eyes at least.

Integrity Toys X Sinuhe Guzman: Surrealist Gala two doll gift set

A few days ago, W Club informed us that there would be a live video presentation for a new collaboration, plus we got some photo clues. And a couple of days later, we were treated to a two-doll gift set, created exclusively by Mexican designer Sinuhe Guzman for the Integrity Toys X Sinuhe Guzman Collaboration.

If you are a long time fashion doll collector, it is impossible that you have never seen one of Sinuhe’s outfits before. His mastery of leather (vegan) and avant guard design and construction means that all his releases are highly coveted and sought after. I own two of his gorgeous ensembles and must say they look amazing on IT dolls. But who is Sinuhe? Let’s check out his bio as published by Integrity Toys.

Since Sinuhe Guzman was born in Mexico City into an artistic family that included an opera-singing mother, the love for art was always in the air. Collecting and dressing dolls started very early in his childhood as a natural way of expression.

He graduated in fashion design and merchandising, and then completed his education in Paris, studying haute couture techniques which he applied for years while dressing an exciting local clientele. What an incredible gift set! And how awesome that, once again, Integrity Toys are collaborating with a very creative and amazing person, dearest Sinuhe Guzman! I must say that the price combined with the timing of delivery made me hesitate a lot upon entering the lottery, but after a day of deliberation, a very sobering check of my doll order chart (so necessary to have, thank you excel) and some talking with fellow collectors, I decided to take the plunge. Might have to sell a kidney after all.

Let’s begin with Vanessa. Despite what the email, the presentation, the reply from club liaisons to member messages and what Sinuhe says, it is my humble opinion that this is definitely the 1.0 sculpt and not 3.0. Starting with endless comparison photos in the club forum, my own eyes and, finally, the screening used on this doll, plus the videos, I can safely say she’s 1.0. Nose, lips, head size (especially width) all match the original sculpt and not the latest. The screening is the same used by many 1.0 Vanessa dolls: Ethereal Beauty, Evermore and Fame & Fortune. She looks also a lot like a blonde Night Warrior Vanessa.

UPDATE: W Club sent an email that confirmed she’s 1.0. Apparently the factory used a doll with 1.0 instead of a 3.0 head to work on the prototype and no one at Integrity Toys could tell. LOL

The outfit is really impressive with its embroidered opera coat and short mini dress underneath. The accessories remind me a lot of Pale Fire Vanessa’s ones, both in style and colours. It’s amazing and cool how Sinuhe manages to incorporate lots of Mexican influences in both doll outfits and accessories without it becoming folklore. And that egg shaped bag is awesome!

Veronique for once looks more youthful and avant guard than her younger sister, dressed in leather and fishnet! She could fit right inside Gianni Versace’s bondage collection if you change the sculls and foxes with medusa heads. The corset is fantastic and the accessories are also gorgeous (both have mobile phones), especially the shoes - same ones worn by her sister, both with SG initials incorporated in the heels. Gaga will want a pair! I love the bag that is essentially one huge bow. The screening is the one first seen on Sea-Devil Veronique from the Fairytale convention. Smashing!
